Regarding early registration and admission, the Ministry of Education and Training requires schools to update the list of candidates eligible for early admission to the system no later than 5:00 p.m. on July 10, 2024.

Schools are responsible for notifying candidates who meet the admission requirements, except for the high school graduation requirement, so that candidates have sufficient information and are proactive in registering their admission wishes on the system. The Ministry of Education and Training emphasizes: Schools are absolutely not allowed to re-admit (increase or decrease admission scores to eliminate or add more candidates). All candidates who are admitted early must be put on the system for processing their wishes if they have registered their admission wishes.

The Ministry of Education and Training notes that schools are not allowed to request or agree with candidates to commit to or confirm early admission in any form. Schools must clearly announce the time to receive application documents and organize the admission process using the early admission method.

According to Associate Professor Dr. Hoang Minh Son - Deputy Minister of Education and Training, there is currently no convincing evidence of fairness between admission methods. Therefore, schools need to carefully analyze and compare the admission results between the methods and the learning results of students to make appropriate adjustments. In this work, it is necessary to use many tools and comparison methods. This is not only for the Ministry, for candidates, but first of all for universities.

Although the high school graduation exam will not take place until the end of June, many universities have announced early admission applications since the beginning of 2024. With the advantage of creating more opportunities for candidates to be admitted to universities without having to depend on the high school graduation exam, early admission is becoming a method chosen by many candidates. Preliminary statistics show that nationwide, 214/322 training institutions have announced early admission applications.

According to the requirements of the Ministry of Education and Training, candidates who participate in early admission and are admitted with conditions at some universities still need to officially register their wishes on the Ministry of Education and Training's system. If they do not register, they will miss the opportunity because they have not been officially admitted. When registering on the general admission support system of the Ministry of Education and Training, candidates will be admitted to only one and the highest wish according to their wishes and abilities.

Associate Professor, Dr. Vu Thi Hien - Head of Training Department, Foreign Trade University, Hanoi, recommends that candidates who participate in early admission, even though the university announces that they are eligible for admission, have not actually been admitted. Candidates who are admitted early must still register their wishes on the general admission system of the Ministry of Education and Training, otherwise the early admission results will be invalid.

Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Thu Thuy - Director of the Department of Higher Education (Ministry of Education and Training) said that in the 2023 enrollment season, there were over 375,500 candidates eligible for admission through early admission methods, but only over 147,000 candidates registered in their first choice and were admitted after virtual filtering. This also means that only about 39.2% of candidates eligible for early admission decided to enroll through this method.

Previously, at the 2024 Admissions Conference, the Department of Higher Education compiled and compared the total scores of the 3-subject exam in 5 traditional university admission groups (A00, A01, B00, C00, D00) in 2023 with the transcript scores of these 2 groups of candidates. Specifically, 60% of candidates admitted to university by transcript had a total graduation exam score of about 20 points for the 3-subject combination. Meanwhile, 60% of candidates admitted by exam scores had a total score of more than 23 points for the 3-subject combination. Thus, the difference between these 2 groups of candidates is about 3 points.
