On June 18, a spectacular Yoga performance with more than 1,000 participants took place at the Martyrs Monument near Ba Kieu Temple, Hoan Kiem Lake, Hanoi .
The event was organized by the Embassy of India in Hanoi, in coordination with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vietnam and the Hanoi People's Committee to celebrate the 9th International Yoga Day (June 21).

With this year’s slogan being “Yoga for the global family”, the event in Hanoi was attended by Mr. Luu Van Duc, Standing Member of the National Assembly’s Council for Nationalities, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam-India Friendship Parliamentarians’ Group; Most Venerable Thich Thanh Nhieu, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) Executive Council; Most Venerable Thich Duc Thien, Vice Chairman and General Secretary of the VBS Executive Council.
The event was also attended by President of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations Nguyen Phuong Nga, Permanent Vice President of the Hanoi Union of Friendship Organizations Tran Thi Phuong, President of the Vietnam-India Friendship Association of Hanoi Phan Lan Tu, representatives of leaders of ministries and more than 1,000 people performing yoga.
On the same day, the Embassy of India in Hanoi and the Consulate General of India in Ho Chi Minh City also organized Yoga events in coordination with other provinces and cities: Quang Tri, Bac Giang, Da Nang, Quang Nam, Dak Lak, Bac Lieu, Vinh Long and Kon Tum.
Previously, on June 17, International Yoga Day 2023 was held in Vinh Phuc province, attracting the participation of many yoga lovers.

The resolution proposed by Prime Minister Modi in September 2014 at the United Nations General Assembly to establish International Yoga Day to recognize the health benefits of Yoga to the world received strong support from 177 member countries, including Vietnam. |
In December 2014, the United Nations General Assembly declared June 21 as International Yoga Day to promote healthy lifestyles worldwide. |
