On October 22, the 2023 National Tennis Championship kicked off at the Waterpoint Nam Long tennis court complex (Ben Luc, Long An) with the participation of 184 players from 17 units nationwide. Vietnam's No. 1 player Ly Hoang Nam did not participate because he was busy competing internationally to improve his professional ranking.
Ly Hoang Nam competes in Challenger tennis tournament in Australia
In the latest rankings of the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP), Ly Hoang Nam dropped 93 places, down to ATP 471, which is also his lowest ranking in over a year. In an effort to improve his ranking, the Tay Ninh player is currently in Australia, preparing to compete in the City of Playford tournament in the ATP Challenger Tour 75 system. According to the draw results, Ly Hoang Nam will face home player Matthew Dellavedova in the first round of the men's singles event taking place today.

The absence of Ly Hoang Nam and Trinh Linh Giang in the men's singles opens up opportunities to compete for the national championship for the remaining talents of Vietnamese tennis such as Vu Ha Minh Duc (Hai Dang Tay Ninh Club), Pham Minh Tuan (HCMC), Nguyen Van Phuong (Army), and Nguyen Dac Tien (Hanoi).
The men's doubles event promises to be an exciting competition with candidate pairs such as Le Quoc Khanh/Tu Le Khanh Duy (Thanh Cong Dak Lak Club), La Xuan Hau/Nguyen Dac Tien (Hanoi), Nguyen Minh Phat/Pham Minh Tuan (HCMC), Le Trung Tinh/Truong Giang Thanh (Army).
The first national tennis championship was held in Long An, contributing to promoting the movement.
In the women's singles, Sophia Huynh Tran Ngoc Nhi (HCMC), Si Boi Ngoc (Army) and Phan Diem Quynh (Becamex Binh Duong) who have just returned from Bahrain after the Billie Jean King Cup women's team tennis tournament will be the candidates competing for the championship.
Today (October 23), the 2023 National Tennis Championship will feature notable matches such as Nguyen Dai Khanh (Becamex Binh Duong) vs. Nguyen Minh Duy (Da Nang), Pham La Hoang Anh (Hai Dang Tay Ninh) vs. Le Cong Tien (Vinh Long), and Tu Ngoc Nhut (Becamex Binh Duong) vs. Pham Tuan Hung (Bac Ninh).
