Reporter Kim Ji-won impressed with the pancakes at Vui Phet night market

Previously, this female reporter had written an article sharing in detail the wonderful emotions during her journey to experience Phu Quoc in February. She dedicated an article to introducing Vui Phet night market in Sunset Town in the South of the island.

As soon as she got up from the Kiss of the Sea show and the spectacular fireworks display, Kim Ji-won felt hungry. Despite having had a hearty dinner, she now craved local food and a can of beer. "In that case, the best thing to do is to just wander aimlessly, following the smells of food and the lively sounds. 'Where is this delicious smell coming from?' - your sense of smell suddenly stimulated will lead you to a crowded tourist alley, where all kinds of street food are available. It's a night market," Kim recounted.

Following her instructions, walking along the night beach from Sunset Town for about 20 minutes, visitors will see a market with colorful lights hanging high above. This is Vietnam's first beach night market "VUI-Fest Bazaar" - where visitors can taste food from all over the world , including Vietnam, Turkey and China... in a European-style building that resembles an alley in Venice, Italy.

The impromptu performance from the restaurant staff reminded reporter Kim of the famous Nanta show in Korea.

There are a number of outdoor restaurants and pubs where you can enjoy a cold beer while looking out at the sea. Those with a clear purpose of “evening snacking” will definitely come here. But if you are not good at deciding on a menu or want to try everything, choose from the food carts (kiosks) lining the alley.

"I ran up to the truck where people were lining up. It turned out that they were selling the famous Korean ice cream dish. I had no intention of going all the way to Vietnam to eat this dish, but the taste of ice cream from the tropical fruit country was definitely different. I stood in line, fascinated by the sight of mangoes being poured out generously. I thought about waiting 10 minutes and eating a piece of rolled ice cream that melted in my mouth. This is real mango ice cream" - Kim Ji-won excitedly described the moment of eating Korean ice cream in Vietnam.

According to her, the night market has no bars or karaoke, but the “excitement” can be felt right on the street. While sipping beer at outdoor tables, visitors will see young people dancing to the vibrant music. The tour guide explains that they are “night market restaurant staff” and the form of body movement using cooking utensils such as pots and pans is unusual. It is like a night market version of “Nanta” (Show Nanta is also known as Cookin or Cookin Nanta. This is a comedy-oriented entertainment show on stage by chefs combined with traditional Korean samul nori rhythms).

Vui Phet Night Market is one of the hottest destinations in the South of Phu Quoc Island.

"Unconsciously, I found myself shaking my shoulders and clapping my hands to the rhythm. After the heat passed, the gentle sea breeze blew across my face, I took a sip of beer and felt the coolness gradually seep in. This is a small festival held every day at the night market on the sea" - female reporter Kim wrote.

After her trip to experience Vietnam's Pearl Island, this Korean reporter did not hesitate to praise Phu Quoc. She said this was a trip that satisfied all 5 senses and called Phu Quoc "Vietnam's Maldives".

Since the pandemic, Phu Quoc has emerged as a top favorite destination for Koreans, alongside places that are already familiar to Korean visitors such as Da Nang and Nha Trang. Every day, the Pearl Island welcomes thousands of tourists from Korea and the country's media has continuously published many articles praising Vietnam's Pearl Island.
