Hanoi The 10th National Innovation and Startup Festival (Techfest Vietnam 2024), launched in April, aims to integrate the innovative startup ecosystem into the region and the world.
The information was announced by Dr. Pham Hong Quat, Director of the Department of Science and Technology Market Development, Ministry of Science and Technology, on the morning of April 19.
With the theme "10-year journey - Global integration", Techfest 2024 will summarize activities and demonstrate outstanding technologies and business models of the creative startup ecosystem in 2024 and the 10-year journey of Techfest since 2015.
Mr. Quat said that the theme of Techfest each year is closely linked to issues that need to be focused on in the creative startup ecosystem, attracting attention in finding effective and timely solutions. The theme of Techfest 2024 aims to integrate the Vietnamese creative startup ecosystem with the region and the world, creating a foundation to establish a federation of creative startup nations.
Techfest 2024 will be held in Hai Phong, with prominent events such as a policy forum, a contest to find innovative startup talent, an investment connection session, and a product exhibition. It is expected that nearly 150 activities will be held throughout with the participation of nearly 30 technology villages. This year's festival will include conferences, international forums, technology booth exhibitions, and a national high-level policy forum. A talkshow to inspire and connect the global innovative startup network is also a highlight of the event series.
The festival also organizes the Asian High-Tech Startup and Unicorn Summit with the participation of high-tech innovative startups, unicorns and potential unicorns in Asia. These activities bring opportunities for Vietnamese startups to develop the market, attract international investment resources, and also an opportunity to introduce and promote a dynamic innovative startup ecosystem of Vietnam to the world.
Techfest Vietnam was first held in 2015, becoming an annual activity coordinated by the Ministry of Science and Technology and other organizations. Through Techfests, Vietnam's creative startup ecosystem has grown, creating a new generation of businesses that operate based on intellectual property and have the capacity to access the global market.
There are currently three national innovation and startup support centers being established in Hanoi, Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh City. According to statistics from the Director of the Department of Science and Technology Market Development, Vietnam has about 3,800 startups, of which 11 startups are valued at over 100 million USD and 3 startups are valued at over 1 billion USD.
