The ANESSA Sunshine Project global initiative aims to promote children's holistic development by encouraging healthy play in the sun.

On the sidelines of the ANESSA Sunshine Project event that recently took place in Ho Chi Minh City, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thao Tam - Director of Cosmetics and Perfumes, Shiseido Cosmetics Vietnam Co., Ltd. - shared that the motivation for this initiative comes from concerns about the trend of children being less physically active and participating in outdoor activities.
* What motivated ANESSA to initiate the global initiative ANESSA Sunshine Project, Madam?
- Survey results show that in Vietnam, 50% of children do not spend enough time on outdoor activities, mainly due to social pressure to focus on studying. However, 75% of parents find that outdoor physical activities help strengthen the autonomic nervous system, an essential factor for children's comprehensive development.
ANESSA Sunshine Project was born to contribute to the comprehensive development of children by encouraging healthy, safe and enjoyable outdoor play. Increasing outdoor activities, living in harmony with the sunlight (Free to Shine) is also ANESSA's brand vision.

* Parents are generally concerned that their children will be affected by sunlight and UV rays when they are outdoors. How can we alleviate their concerns?
- To convince parents to encourage children to participate in outdoor activities, it is first necessary to create a proper level of safety for children, helping parents feel secure that their children will receive the best from the sunlight and be completely protected from negative effects.
Another important factor is to educate and improve children's knowledge about sun protection and proactively prevent the harmful effects of UV rays. When parents are confident that their children are safe in outdoor activities, they will boldly create conditions and encourage children to participate in outdoor activities.
With this project, we not only bring a sunscreen product for children to protect their skin during outdoor activities, but also focus on raising awareness and understanding of consumers about the harmful effects of UV rays and solutions to optimally protect skin from the sun.

* What is the reason for ANESSA to choose Vietnam as the second market to implement this project, madam?
- The goal of the ANESSA Sunshine Project is to build a solid foundation for long-term comprehensive health through healthy physical activities, with three main focuses: Experience, Education and Support. In cooperation with the Japan Football Association (JFA), the project was successfully launched in Japan earlier this year with activities focusing on "Experience".
This project is not limited to an event but a community project with the goal of replicating the project across 12 Asian countries, combined with related initiatives. Thereby creating a positive impact on more than 300,000 children globally from now until 2030.
We chose Vietnam as the second destination of the project. It can be said that Vietnam is a very successful market and also our key, strategic market globally.
Since our first presence in Vietnam in 2018, we have always achieved double-digit growth. ANESSA has become one of the leading brands in the high-end sunscreen segment in Vietnam.

- Currently, the market for sunscreen products for children is still very limited. Enterprises must invest heavily in technology, research and development (R&D), to produce safe products for children, especially children from 6 months old.

At the same time, Shiseido always pursues a sustainable development strategy, contributing to improving the quality of life and public health.

Currently, the ANESSA Mild Series product line in general and the ANESSA Mild Milk product in particular are in the top 5 leading sunscreen products in the Vietnamese market.
