On the morning of February 15, Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporation (VATM) held a ceremony to kick off the construction of the Ho Chi Minh Air Traffic Control Center.
This is the ACC/HCM long-haul flight control project, the approach control cluster for international airports from Phu Yen province to Ca Mau province, including Lien Khuong airport (Lam Dong province), Buon Ma Thuot (Dak Lak).

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Cong Long, Acting General Director of VATM, said that the Ho Chi Minh Air Traffic Control Center project was newly built to replace the existing Ho Chi Minh Air Traffic Control Center.
The new center will provide services to ensure air traffic control, flight monitoring, information, aviation communications, air traffic flow management, etc. for all civil and military transport operations.
In addition, this center also ensures other specialized flight operations such as VIP flights, emergency flights, surveying and mapping flights... and the entire Ho Chi Minh City flight information region (FIR/HCM).
In particular, Ho Chi Minh Air Traffic Control Center will ensure the provision of approach control services for the Long Thanh International Airport cluster (phase 1 to be completed by the end of 2026) and Tan Son Nhat.
Given the special importance of the project, on February 2, the Ministry of Transport issued Decision No. 126 on the announcement of the Emergency Construction Order for the Ho Chi Minh City Air Traffic Control Center project.
The project officially started on February 15, 2024 and will be completed on May 15, 2025.
The new center will provide services to ensure air traffic control, flight operations monitoring, aviation information and communications.
The project has a total investment capital of nearly 1,500 billion VND, with VATM as the investor. The project includes bidding packages for the supply and installation of specialized equipment such as VCCS switching system, TMS technical monitoring system, ATM system database, ATN network channel leasing, AIM terminal equipment.
In addition, construction items and infrastructure construction of the main building are also being deployed on a construction area of 2,360m2 in Ward 4, Tan Binh District.
The construction consortium is increasing manpower and construction equipment for the electrical engineering station, 2 65m high antenna towers and internal road yard area.
