Save up little by little to buy a house in the district  

Born and raised in Hunan, China, my parents were both workers so their monthly salary was not high.

My family has to spend frugally to cover living expenses.

After graduating from college, I returned to work at a job site near my home.

I became a salesman in a factory that manufactured electrical equipment.

At the beginning, my monthly salary was only 2,000 yuan. My parents often encouraged me that fresh graduates would have low salaries.

But if I work hard, in the near future, I can change my salary. After working for 3 years, my salary also increased.

After working at the company for a while, I met my life partner. We got married soon after.

My wife works as a secretary in a factory. The job is quite easy so the salary is not high. Each month, we both have to spend frugally to save about 3,000 yuan.

To have a more stable life, I always hoped to be able to buy an apartment soon instead of renting forever. After many years of effort, in 2016, we finally saved more than 200,000 yuan.

My husband and I plan to buy a house in the district center. At that time, the district has not built a high-speed train station yet, and house prices are still stable.

Through a friend's recommendation, we found a 100m2 house, less than 500m from the school and only about 2km from the high-speed railway station. If we bought this house, we would have just enough money for the deposit.

Bought house 6 years ago, still want to split in half after receiving compensation

When we discussed our plans to buy this house with our parents, my wife and I were discouraged. My mother-in-law said that a relative was planning to sell an old house in this area. We should look into it.

At first I did not agree. The reason was that this house was built in 1990 and was seriously degraded.

The house design is from the old days so it is not to my liking. In addition, the house is on the 5th floor but there is no elevator or parking space so it is quite inconvenient.

While if we buy a newly built apartment, although the price is higher, we enjoy many types of services.

Besides, I don’t have much money on hand. If I buy a house from a relative, I have to pay the full amount so it’s hard to borrow the remaining amount. If I buy a new house, I can borrow and pay in installments from the bank.

My mother-in-law was not happy when she heard that I did not want the house that my relative had given up. She said that the relative's house was near the market and bus station, so it was convenient for commuting.

The important thing is that the homeowner is having difficulties with his business and wants to sell the house to get money for investment. Therefore, as long as my husband and I are willing to buy, all the furniture in the house will be kept and free of charge.

Finally, with the persuasion of my wife's parents, we spent all our savings of 200,000 NDT and borrowed about 100,000 NDT from relatives to buy this old house.

So we spent 300,000 NDT (1 billion VND) to buy a 90m2 house in the central area. Until we moved in, my wife and I had no worries at all. We even felt that this was a somewhat correct choice.

However, after living there for 6 years, the land area of ​​the building was included in the city's planning area. According to the conditions set by the investor, each homeowner here will be compensated 800,000 NDT (2.6 billion VND).

With the compensation being reasonable, my wife and I have no objections. However, an unfortunate incident occurred. Relatives who once owned this apartment expressed regret when they learned about the high compensation.

They talked to everyone before I bought this house cheap when getting compensation money at least have to split half of the money.

My husband and I also explained that the sale was 6 years ago. So when the house was compensated, they were no longer related to this money.

Many people gossiped about us, and my wife's parents also advised my husband and I to give this person 300,000 yuan after receiving the compensation. However, I absolutely did not agree.

For this reason, my wife's parents thought I was stingy and ungrateful. My relatives also came to my house many times to complain that they had lost a lot when they sold the house for 300,000 yuan.

So they wanted me to share the compensation. However, I was still determined with my decision. Because my wife and I will have to use this money to buy a new apartment. So we are not sure if this money is enough.

I suddenly felt like I was in a difficult situation. Because of a compensation amount, my family had many conflicts. Even now, I feel quite regretful about my relatives' decision to buy a house.
