On August 13, the People's Committee of Van Don district organized an interdisciplinary delegation to conduct a field survey of the passenger transport route from Ao Tien port through Vanh gate to Co To port and the sightseeing and tourism routes on Bai Tu Long Bay according to Decision No. 2119/QD-UBND dated July 19, 2024 of the Provincial People's Committee. The delegation included leaders of the Departments of Transport, Agriculture and Rural Development, Traffic Police Department (Provincial Police), Ha Long Bay Management Board, Bai Tu Long National Park, Provincial Traffic Safety Committee and businesses planning to exploit new sightseeing and tourism routes on Ha Long Bay and Bai Tu Long Bay.

The group departs from Ao Tien port through Tay Hoi island - Lucky Cat island (Lazy Cat island) - Ban Sen island - Nha Tro cave, Phat Co cave - Pearl farming area (Black Stone island) - Hon park - Lao Vong fishing village - Tra Ngo Lon island - Thien Nga island - Cai De area - Mang Ha overnight anchorage - Tra Than lagoon (Large Tra Ngo island).
Based on the report of the District People's Committee and Bai Tu Long National Park on parameters such as width, depth of the channel, obstacles... at locations and points on the planned tourist routes, the delegation agreed on the itinerary for each route so that boats can travel and anchor safely and in accordance with the Law on Water Traffic Safety; avoid boats passing through narrow points, dangerous points, points where people are doing aquaculture or points where biodiversity needs to be preserved; and at the same time identify dangerous warning points.

On the journeys, there are expected to be 7 overnight anchorages. These anchorages will be announced and invested in safety such as: Regulations, floating equipment for rescue operations, medical care, security and order...
Ensuring the early conditions for water vehicles, especially cruise ships, to operate on new tourist routes in Bai Tu Long Bay will help expand tourism space, reduce the load on Ha Long Bay, renew tourism products and enhance the attractiveness of island tours in Van Don district in particular and Quang Ninh province in general.
