After 5 days of implementation (from April 11 to April 15), the survey and situation assessment of coastal seas and islands in 2025, coordinated by the Coast Guard Region 1 Command with the provinces of Quang Ninh, Thai Binh, and Nam Dinh, was a great success, ensuring safety in all aspects. The working delegation was led by Major General Tran Van Hau, Political Commissar of the Coast Guard Region 1 Command. Comrade Nguyen Hong Duong, Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission of the Quang Ninh Provincial Party Committee, was the Head of the working delegation of Quang Ninh province.
Within the framework of the program, the Working Group organized many activities such as: Surveying and grasping the implementation of socio -economic development projects; ensuring national defense, security, order and safety in coastal seas and islands; and preventing and combating illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing.
During the survey, the Working Group also patrolled and inspected the compliance with legal regulations of fishing vessels operating in the waters of Quang Ninh, Thai Binh and Nam Dinh provinces; at the same time, combined with propaganda for fishermen and fishing vessel owners about the Law on Vietnam Coast Guard, regulations prohibiting IUU fishing, guiding vessel owners to write a commitment not to violate foreign waters to exploit aquatic products, etc.
Implementing the program "Coast Guard accompanies fishermen", within the framework of the program, the Survey Team also visited, presented gifts and worked with Bach Long Vi island district (Hai Phong city), Co To island district (Quang Ninh province) to grasp the implementation of socio-economic development projects, ensuring national defense, security, order and safety at sea, developing the marine economy and preventing and combating IUU fishing.
The delegation also organized meaningful mass mobilization activities, such as: Presenting nearly 200 gifts to agencies, units, poor households and excellent students in the island district; organizing propaganda and presenting 500 flags and hundreds of leaflets to fishermen on the sea route and island districts... Thereby, contributing to encouraging people to confidently go out to sea and stick to the sea; actively participating in firmly protecting the sovereignty and security of the sacred sea and island areas of the Fatherland.
Also within the framework of the survey trip, the delegation held a memorial service for 9 officers and staff of flight crew CASA-212, number 8983, who heroically sacrificed their lives while on duty at sea and commemorated fishermen who died while making a living in the sea and islands in the Northeast of the Fatherland.
Speaking at the experience review session at the end of the survey trip, Major General Tran Van Hau, Political Commissar of Coast Guard Region 1, assessed: Coastal seas and islands play a particularly important role in the cause of building and defending the Fatherland. Therefore, it is urgent to regularly grasp the field and promptly update changes in nature, socio-economics, security and maritime safety in coastal seas and islands. This survey trip is an important basis for local Party committees and authorities to research and plan maritime policies in accordance with the practical situation of the locality. In particular, the program also contributes to improving the effectiveness of coordination between the Vietnam Coast Guard Command with localities and functional forces in the management of the country's seas and islands.
