Inauguration of smart livestock farm

On the morning of September 6, at the Tam Diep Nuclear Pig Breed Research and Development Station, Khe Doi village, Quang Son commune (Tam Diep city), the Center for Digital Transformation and Agricultural Statistics (DTS) under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development held the inauguration ceremony of the smart livestock farm.

Representatives of the units pressed the symbolic button, officially inaugurating the Smart Livestock Farm project.

The smart farm belongs to the project "Establishing smart farms and enhancing pig farming value chain in Ninh Binh, Vietnam" funded by the Korean Government with non-refundable aid.

Attending the event were leaders of units under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development; leaders of the Project Management Board in Vietnam and Korea; Vietnam Livestock Association; leaders of the Department of Livestock and Veterinary Medicine of Ninh Binh province.

The project started construction in July 2023 and has now been completed and put into operation; the total area is 20 hectares, including 5 main components: Installation of a smart farm demonstration model (of which the sow barn area is 216 ^m2 , the pig barn area is 467 ^m2 ); development of a smart farm management software system; training and technology transfer at home and abroad for data management and farm system management; development of strategic reports, master plans for farm development and components for building ecosystems, product brands, market development strategies, and promoting and sharing project content.

The investment capital is non-refundable aid from the Korean Government with a total investment cost of 3.5 billion Won (equivalent to 73 billion VND), counterpart capital of more than 326,000 USD, equivalent to more than 7 billion VND.

Tam Diep Nuclear Pig Breed Research and Development Station is a place to preserve original breeds and foreign pig lines with valuable genes, cared for by a developed human resource and experienced in production and business in a chain. After being carefully cared for, each year about 4.5 - 6 thousand breeding pigs and 18-20 thousand commercial pigs are sold.

At the same time, this is also a branch of the Thuy Phuong Pig Research Center under the Institute of Animal Husbandry, with a modern livestock infrastructure system, there is still a lot of room for development in terms of area scale as well as conducting new scientific research and testing.

The completed project will help provide high-quality and safe food to consumers, increase productivity and income for farmers through the application of smart agricultural production models according to the agricultural value chain. At the same time, improve capacity in livestock farming, disease control, goods circulation and system data management for officials and people participating in the project.

In the context that complete smart agricultural production models with modern information technology applications have not yet been properly invested due to high costs, the Project "Establishing smart farms and improving the pig farming value chain in Ninh Binh province, Vietnam" is expected to create a typical clean agricultural production and consumption model with high competitiveness, helping to improve productivity, product quality and increase income for farmers, contributing greatly to the development of the agricultural sector in general and the livestock sector in particular.

At the inauguration ceremony, representatives of leaders of units under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Vietnam; leaders of the Korean Project Management Board and leaders of the provincial Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine pressed the button to officially inaugurate and put into operation the smart livestock farm.
