Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Le The Chu - editor-in-chief of Tuoi Tre newspaper - said that Ha Tinh is a locality that is heavily affected by harsh weather and natural disasters. For many years, the province has focused on implementing many social security programs, especially mobilizing resources to build community cultural houses combined with storm and flood shelters and solid housing for the people.
However, in the province there are still many houses and schools in disrepair, not ensuring safety for students and people's lives when the flood season comes.
The “Flood-proof Schools” program was initiated from the desire to have solid schools to support teachers’ teaching work, helping students in disadvantaged areas that are often affected by storms and floods to study with peace of mind. And this place is also a safe haven for people when there are natural disasters such as floods and storms.

With the advice of former President Truong Tan Sang, the program "Schools overcoming floods" organized by Tuoi Tre newspaper in coordination with the Provincial Party Committee and People's Committee of Ha Tinh province and the cooperation and support of sponsors, the organizing committee has so far received more than 10 billion VND and has implemented the construction of two charity houses and four schools in Ha Tinh with a total value of over 10 billion VND.
The “Flood-proof Schools” program prioritizes schools in remote and low-lying areas that are frequently flooded during heavy rains and floods, and lack classrooms to better support teaching and learning in disadvantaged schools. For flood-proof houses, priority is given to families with preferential policies, extremely disadvantaged households, and makeshift houses that do not have a place to avoid floods and are frequently flooded during heavy rains and floods.

Especially in the past few days, when the whole country is working with the people of the North to overcome the consequences of natural disasters caused by storm No. 3, we understand more clearly the value of flood prevention projects like the one inaugurated today” - Editor-in-Chief of Tuoi Tre newspaper said.

Ms. Doan Thi Lieu - principal of Gia Pho Primary School - said that every year during the flood season, the Dong Hai village school is flooded, making teaching and learning very difficult. Therefore, recently, Tuoi Tre newspaper coordinated with local authorities to survey and build new classrooms.
In the 2024-2025 school year, the classroom block was completed and put into operation, so the teachers and students of the school were very happy. From now on, teachers and students of Gia Pho Primary School will no longer worry every time the rainy season comes, and at the same time, putting the classroom block into operation is an opportunity for students to have the conditions to develop their skills in a more synchronous way.
“On behalf of the school board, I would like to thank Tuoi Tre newspaper and benefactors who have joined hands to support the school in spirit and material to build new, spacious classrooms, helping teachers and students to focus on teaching and studying,” said Ms. Lieu.
