In recent times, farmers' associations at all levels in the province have promoted their role as a bridge in helping members develop the economy, reduce poverty, effectively implement the new rural construction movement, and make important contributions to the development of their homeland. Currently, the province has 10 district, town and city associations, 124 grassroots associations and 755 farmer associations with nearly 149,000 members.
According to Mr. Nguyen Phu Hoang - Chairman of the Provincial Farmers' Association, in recent years, the Association at all levels has continuously improved the quality of propaganda, mobilization, solidarity, gathering, and member development, making farmers clearly aware of their mission and role as the main subject, as the central factor in the process of socio-economic development in rural areas. In particular, the movements "Joining hands and hearts to build new rural areas", "Farmers compete in good production and business, unite to help each other get rich and reduce poverty sustainably" have been widely responded to by farmer members. This is an important factor for building effective and sustainable new rural areas. Therefore, from the beginning of 2023, the Provincial Association has directed and guided the Association at all levels to launch emulation movements and organize registration of the title of good production and business households. As a result, 100% of the Association's bases, 10/10 districts, towns and cities organized the launch, over 70% of farmer households registered to compete and signed the implementation agreement. In addition, the Provincial Farmers' Association proactively coordinated with relevant departments, branches and units to organize 122 training courses on science and technology transfer, 16 seminars for more than 7,329 officials, members and farmers on planting and caring for dragon fruit trees according to VietGAP standards, using pesticides, planting and caring for hybrid corn, disease prevention on rice plants, rubber care techniques, preserving aquatic products after catching; organized the event "Creative Fruit Technology Day"; implemented the project "Model of applying biological products in intensive cultivation of durian trees towards biosafety" in Da Mi commune, Ham Thuan Bac district; “Project to propagate and mobilize farmers to apply environmentally friendly rice cultivation in Binh Thuan province”…
In addition, in the first 6 months of the year, the Farmers' Association at all levels directly guided the construction and establishment of 5 new cooperatives; bringing the total number to 445 cooperative economic models directly guided and established by the Association (67 cooperatives, 378 cooperative groups). In particular, the work of creating capital for farmers to borrow to develop production has always been of interest to the Association at all levels. During the year, the Association continued to coordinate with banks to support capital for farmers to develop production. Regarding the capital source of the Farmers' Support Fund (3 levels), there is currently a total outstanding loan of over 38 billion VND for 1,951 households borrowing/322 projects. From the capital support and emulation movement, many effective economic models have emerged such as the model of planting and caring for rubber, cashew, growing lotus for seeds combined with fish farming, and certified rice propagation in Duc Linh and Tanh Linh districts; raising breeding cows in Vinh Tan, Phu Lac, Binh Thanh (Tuy Phong district); raising freshwater eels (Gia An, Tanh Linh); Growing grapes, apples in greenhouses, and green-skinned grapefruit trees in Phuoc The commune, Phong Phu commune, Vinh Hao commune, Tuy Phong district...
Along with supporting farmers in developing production, since the beginning of the year, the association at all levels has coordinated to mobilize farmers to contribute to building rural roads, dredging intra-field canals; protecting the environment with a value of 22.6 million VND, 275 working days and renovating, repairing, upgrading, and maintaining 15.3 km of rural roads, dredging 23 km of intra-field canals.
In the coming time, the Association will continue to innovate and diversify propaganda work, mobilizing farmers to implement the Party's guidelines and resolutions, the State's policies and laws, especially issues related to agriculture, farmers, rural areas and new rural construction. Continue to effectively implement the movement of farmers competing in good production and business in the period of 2022 - 2027 in the province. At the same time, mobilize members and farmers to actively participate in protecting the green, clean and beautiful rural environment; maintain environmental hygiene in communities and villages.
