Urgently handle the labor accident at the Can Tho expressway construction site

On the afternoon of October 16, a representative of Corporation 36 (contractor) confirmed that a work accident had just occurred at the construction package of the North-South expressway, Eastern phase 2021-2025, Can Tho - Ca Mau section (Can Tho - Ca Mau expressway), causing 2 casualties.

The incident occurred at around 1:30 p.m. the same day, at the construction site of Co 3 bridge (Nga Sau town, Chau Thanh district, Hau Giang province) under the Can Tho - Hau Giang project.

"The incident occurred, leaving one person dead and one person slightly injured.

Immediately after hearing the news, the contractor arrived at the scene, coordinated with the authorities to investigate and clarify the cause of the incident.

For now, the contractor has assigned people to support the family, focusing on funeral arrangements for the deceased. At the same time, support all expenses and medicine for the injured.

Speaking with Giao Thong Newspaper reporters, a representative of My Thuan Project Management Board (investor) said that immediately after receiving the information, the unit's leaders went directly to the scene, coordinating with the authorities and the contractor to handle the incident.

At the same time, contractors are required to comprehensively inspect labor protection work during construction, especially construction of high-altitude items... in order to promptly correct and handle any safety risks, if any.

"We have also directed contractors and supervisory consultants to increase inspections, reminders, and urge workers to comply and ensure labor safety during construction.

In addition, the contractor was requested to pay utmost attention and provide maximum support in all aspects, in order to partly share the losses with the victim's family," said a representative of the My Thuan Project Management Board.

Can Tho - Ca Mau Expressway is over 110km long, with a total investment of over 27,500 billion VND, started construction in January 2023, and is expected to be completed in 2025.

This expressway section consists of two component projects: the Can Tho - Hau Giang component project is over 37km long. The total investment is over 10,370 billion VND.

The Hau Giang - Ca Mau component project is over 73km long. The total investment is over 17,152 billion VND.
