Urgently leveling mountains and building temporary roads for traffic on National Highway 48 through Quy Chau district

Việt NamViệt Nam04/10/2023

Since September 29, after the flood on Hieu River receded, at Km99+200 (National Highway 48) through Bu Bai village, Chau Thang commune, Quy Chau district, serious subsidence has occurred. Cracks are deep and crisscrossed horizontally and vertically on the road surface over a length of over 150m, posing a potential risk to traffic safety.

Faced with the above situation, the traffic management unit has focused on temporary solutions; using base rocks to temporarily fill in the sunken, collapsed and cracked areas, and at the same time stretching ropes at the problem areas to warn traffic participants. At both ends of the subsidence points, there are barrier signs and guards.

Mr. Tran Vo Hai - Head of Quy Chau Traffic Department said: To ensure traffic on the route, since September 29, the traffic management unit has used excavators to cover the positive slope, making a temporary road to avoid subsidence and sinking areas with a width of 3m, about 100m long.

Up to this point, machinery and equipment have cleared the embankment of about 2,000m3 of soil and rock. It is expected that by the end of October 4, the temporary road will be dug and cleared, ensuring traffic flow.

Currently, the traffic management unit is submitting a request to the competent authority for permission to straighten the route with a length of over 300m, to avoid subsidence on National Highway 7 through Bu Bai village, Chau Thang commune, Quy Chau district.
