Phu Quy, also known as Thu Islet, is a small island located about 120 km southeast of Phan Thiet City (Binh Thuan). In addition to the main island, Phu Quy Island is also surrounded by Hon Da Cao, Hon Do, Hon Tranh and Hon Hai. Phu Quy Island has an area of ​​just over 18 km2 but has enough beautiful scenery, famous places, experiences... for visitors to explore for a few days.

The climate on the island is fresh and cool all year round. The best time to explore Phu Quy Island is from December to June of the following year, as the storm season usually falls from September to November. In spring and summer, the sea is calm, clear, and windy, making it easy to travel to the small islands. However, there will be occasional rough seas, so visitors should check the weather forecast in advance. Normally, it takes 3-4 days to explore the entire island district. If you don't want to take a boat to the surrounding small islands, you can choose a 3-day, 2-night itinerary, including 2 days of travel and 1 day of fun and exploration of the main island.

Trieu Duong Bay

Following the main road around the island, the first destination is Triều Dương Bay, a small beach with blue and calm water next to a long stretch of fine sand. In the afternoon, many locals come here to swim. Next, the sovereignty flagpole is where almost every tourist coming to the island checks in.

Ganh Hang

About 650m from Bai Nho, Ganh Hang is a large vertical cliff close to the sea, the sea water overflows to form "Khe Sung Suong" and a natural "Infinity Pool" that attracts many tourists to swim. You should bring sturdy climbing shoes to ensure safety. When taking photos, be careful not to go near the edge of the "Infinity Pool" to avoid being pulled out to sea by the waves and should go with a local.

Sand Peak

Cao Cat Peak is located in the north of Phu Quy Island, is one of the highest mountains on the island, 106 m above sea level. Here there are cliffs with special shapes, with horizontal grooves due to weathering, likened to the Grand Canyon, USA. On the way to Cao Cat Peak, you can visit Linh Son Pagoda.

Van An Thanh Whale Temple

In 1941, the body of a whale drifted to Phu Quy Island, the locals discovered and gave it a solemn burial. When alive, this whale could have been over 20 meters long and you can see its skeleton when you come to Van An Thanh. Here, you will hear locals talk about the phenomenon of whales helping ships when they encounter storms at sea.

Phu Quy Lighthouse

The lighthouse is located on Cam Mountain, more than 100 m above sea level. From here, you can look far away to admire the poetic scenery. The road to the lighthouse is at the end of the road to Linh Buu Pagoda. You can ride a motorbike to the foot of the mountain. This place is open for free, visitors can leave a small amount of money to support the care and cleaning work.

Ban Tranh Princess Temple

The temple was built by the Cham people in the late 15th century. Legend has it that the Champa princess refused to be forced into a marriage, so the king sent her on a boat into exile. The boat drifted to the island, and she decided to stay and reclaim land, helping the people fight off foreign invaders. When she died, a temple was built to worship her and her death anniversary was celebrated every year, and she was honored as Lady of the Land or Lady of the Island.

Dinh Thay Nai

The mausoleum worships a Chinese physician who had great merit in curing people since the island was still in its infancy. He is worshiped as the island's guardian deity. According to legend, Master Sai Nai was a Chinese merchant and had knowledge of medicines to cure diseases. Once when he went to Vietnam to trade, his boat was pushed by a storm to Phu Quy Island. He was attracted by the beauty of the island and decided to stay there for the rest of his life. After his death, the people buried him and built a mausoleum there in 1665. The islanders all come to the mausoleum to pray when they encounter difficulties or when they have a good fishing season at sea. Every year, the ceremony to worship the Master is held on the 4th day of the 4th lunar month with many traditional rituals.

Visit the island

Coming to Phu Quy, you cannot miss visiting Hon Den, Hon Trung, Hon Giua, Hon Do, Hon Tranh. Just about 10 minutes by canoe, you can walk under the trees and learn about the life of fishermen on the island, with the traditional profession of diving for lobsters. Hon Tranh and Hon Den are considered by locals to be beautiful and safe. Guests are picked up by canoe, go fishing, snorkeling to see coral, and stop to take "virtual life" photos. In particular, the fish you catch will be processed by the tour guide into a raw dish to eat on the spot...
