An elderly woman in California (USA) who is battling terminal cancer was extremely happy when her last wish was fulfilled to fly to the sky, more than 50 years after getting her dream job as a flight attendant.
Janet McAnnally, 79, recently stopped all treatment for stage 4 lung cancer and chose to enjoy the time she had left, including flying again through the Last Wish Program offered by her hospice, KOVR-TV reported on November 24.
The facility contacted United Airlines pilot Rob Davis, who took McAnnally on an impressive hour-long flight over Calaveras County, California. He even gave her her first time flying.
"I think I was more excited than emotional until it was finished and I realized what we had just done. It had rained before and so the ground looked beautiful. Suddenly the moon started to rise and that made me a little emotional," she said.

As a young woman, McAnnally dreamed of traveling the world and became a flight attendant for Trans World Airlines in 1971, when she was 26. Although her flight attendant career lasted only 7 years, she never forgot her first love.
“I opened my fourth-grade geography book and there was a black-and-white photo of the pyramids and the Sphinx. I thought I had to go see the world and was fascinated by it,” she said.
Recently, the cancer spread to her spine, so she decided to stop all treatment. Now, she only receives pain management and other services at home.
"I've had a life full of love. I can't just sit around and do nothing or just moan and cry, even if I only have one or two months left. It's better to shed happy tears and enjoy as much as possible," she shared.
