On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-Japan diplomatic relations, on June 23, the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Hanoi People's Committee co-chaired and coordinated with the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, the Vietnamese Embassy in Japan and AEON Group to organize the opening ceremony of Vietnam Goods Week 2023 at AEON Lake Town Mori Shopping Center in Saitama Prefecture and at all supermarkets and retail stores of the AEON system in Japan.

Attending the event were Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Do Thang Hai, Vietnamese Ambassador to Japan Pham Quang Hieu, representatives of AEON Group, and more than 30 Vietnamese enterprises.

The goods week is one of the large-scale activities organized this year to implement the project "Promoting Vietnamese enterprises to directly participate in foreign distribution systems by 2030" of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, as well as to aim for the goal of bringing the export turnover of Vietnamese goods to the Aeon system to 1 billion USD by 2025.

Through the project, many Vietnamese products that meet high Japanese standards have been imported by AEON and put into consumption at hundreds of supermarkets in the AEON system.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Deputy Minister Do Thang Hai emphasized that in recent years, Vietnam has been transforming strongly to become a major global production center with the ability to supply the world market with a variety of diverse, rich, competitively priced and increasingly high-quality goods.

With the support of large retail corporations in the world such as AEON, opportunities for Vietnamese enterprises to expand markets and export directly to foreign distribution systems are increasingly expanding.

Representing Vietnamese businesses displaying products at the week, Mr. Nguyen Huu Dai, CEO of Eco Straws Export Joint Stock Company, said that the company's products have been exported to many European countries. The company aims to enter the Japanese market this year.

The Vietnam Goods Week in Japan event helps Vietnamese businesses connect with Japanese businesses and consumers, thereby bringing Vietnamese products to the world market and bringing foreign currency revenue to the country, while creating jobs for workers and increasing the added value of Vietnamese agricultural products.

This year's week is arranged with a new identity, highlighting Vietnam's key export products such as agricultural products, processed foods, seafood, textiles, footwear, household appliances, health care products, etc.

The focus is on fresh Vietnamese agricultural and aquatic products with tropical fruits such as lychee, longan, banana, dragon fruit, fresh coconut; shrimp, octopus, catfish... All are displayed and attractively introduced to Japanese customers.

Ms. Kaneko, an employee at AEON’s fruit booth, said that Vietnamese lychees are the best-selling item. In addition, many customers are also interested in Vietnamese longans, which are not available in Japan. Events like this will be a good opportunity for Japanese customers to learn about and experience delicious Vietnamese fruits.

Mr. Tokizawa, a customer from Saitama Prefecture, said that he often uses Vietnamese foods such as coffee and instant noodles. However, his impression of Vietnamese daily household products is not much. Mr. Tokizawa hopes that Vietnamese goods will become more popular in Japan, especially fruits, spices and daily goods.

Following the success of the week in previous years, AEON Group continues to combine the display and introduction of goods with the promotion of the image, cultural identity and tourism of Vietnam.

This is demonstrated through a series of activities to exchange and experience Vietnamese culture such as traditional Vietnamese dance, Vietnamese national musical instruments, culinary performances, Vovinam performances... to attract the interest and attention of Japanese people, as well as bring customers interesting discoveries and experiences.

In addition, there are a series of sideline activities organized before and during the week, such as trade connection activities, conferences, seminars, etc., thereby increasing the effectiveness of the program towards the goal of having more and more Vietnamese products directly consumed in AEON's distribution system in Japan as well as in many other countries.

As planned, Vietnamese Goods Week 2023 will last until June 26 and is expected to attract a large number of customers to visit and experience shopping.
