The first time tasting the old pho dish in Ho Chi Minh City, the Thai female tourist couldn't help but be amazed by the delicious and unique flavor. She and her crew enjoyed the meal for nearly 600,000 VND.
Zom Marie (born 1992, real name Marie Eugene Le Lay) is a famous singer and content creator from Thailand, currently owns a personal YouTube channel with more than 3.3 million followers.
Recently, Zom Marie and her team traveled to Ho Chi Minh City, spending time shopping for clothes, walking around the streets and experiencing typical local dishes, including the famous "Michelin pho".
The place that the Thai female tourist visited was a famous pho restaurant located on Pasteur Street, District 3. The restaurant has been honored by Michelin for 2 consecutive years in the Bib Gourmand category (a restaurant with delicious food and reasonable prices).
Here, they ordered 3 large beef pho, 1 plate of spring rolls and 1 plate of spring rolls. Zom Marie, who doesn't eat beef, ordered chicken pho.
When the first dish, spring rolls, was served, the group could not hide their excitement. Zom Marie commented that the spring rolls looked fresh because they had lots of green vegetables. When she tasted them, she was surprised by how delicious the dish was, nodding her head repeatedly to show her enjoyment.
Next, they enjoyed pho. Zom Marie's manager said she ordered the most expensive pho because she wanted to experience different types of beef.
Zom Marie admitted that the pho here mainly uses beef. She doesn't eat beef but luckily can substitute it with chicken pho.
Under the guidance of his manager, the famous Thai YouTuber also added spices, herbs and blanched bean sprouts to make the pho more appealing.
She excitedly tasted the first spoonful of broth and commented that it was very delicious. “I don’t know where this pho dish gets its aroma from. The noodles are thin, soft, and full of spices,” the young singer shared her feelings.
She also praised the soft, fragrant chicken and the chewy, chewy fried breadsticks.
At the end of the meal, Zom Marie and her crew paid 586,000 VND (about 800 baht). The singer's manager commented that the pho was reasonably priced and of good quality.
“I was very satisfied and full with today’s pho. She couldn’t even finish it because the portion was so big,” he shared.
Mr. Pham Thanh Tan (52 years old) - the owner of the pho restaurant that Zom Marie and the crew visited said that the restaurant opened in 1968. Mr. Tan is the third generation to take over the family business.
“When I first started my business, my grandmother sold pho with a simple cart on the sidewalk of Pasteur Street. After that, the restaurant gradually grew, she passed on the business to my mother, and now, I and other family members continue to take over,” said Mr. Tan.
According to Mr. Tan, the restaurant's pho is cooked in the Southern style, with a slightly sweet taste and fragrant aroma from spices such as cinnamon, ginger, and star anise.
The restaurant serves 5 main pho dishes including well-done, rare, tendon, flank, and flank at the price of 90,000 VND/regular bowl and 105,000 VND/large bowl. In addition, the restaurant also has pho with beef book, pho with beef balls or pho with chicken and other side dishes such as spring rolls, spring rolls, dumplings, etc.
Diners can order an extra bowl of broth on the side, with a poached egg and some green onions.
