Kayla Cosmos (30 years old) is an American content creator. She is passionate about traveling and has been to many places such as: Panama, Mexico, Japan, Korea, Philippines, Indonesia, Vietnam...
On her personal social media channels, Kayla regularly shares videos about interesting travel experiences in each land she visits.
In Vietnam, Kayla had the opportunity to explore many places such as Ha Giang, Hanoi, Ha Long (Quang Ninh), Hue, Da Nang, Nha Trang (Khanh Hoa), Da Lat (Lam Dong), Ho Chi Minh City...
Not only impressed by the beautiful natural scenery at famous tourist destinations, Western visitors are also attracted by the rustic, everyday experiences in Vietnam.
Most recently, Kayla shared on her personal Instagram channel about her hair washing experience in Vietnam.
She gave many compliments to the staff's professional skills and massage techniques. "After washing my hair, I felt my hair was much stronger and my scalp seemed to have improved and felt more comfortable," the American guest shared.
In addition, the female tourist was also impressed with the friendliness of the hair washing staff. Although they did not speak the same language and had to rely on Google Translate, they still chatted enthusiastically and happily.
Kayla said the hair-washing experience in Vietnam was interesting and “worth a try.” However, she also noted that those with curly or specially styled hair may experience some issues after washing their hair.
According to Kayla, hair can be frizzy and tangled after washing, but visitors do not need to worry too much because the salon owner will adjust it accordingly.
From her experience, she gives some advice to tourists who want to try this service in Vietnam, especially those with curly hair like her.
“Before shampooing, you can ask the staff to handle it gently if you are afraid of tangles or hair loss. If you do not know Vietnamese, you can use Google Translate to communicate.
If you have any special products you need for your hair, be sure to bring them with you. I’ve been pretty happy with the products the salon uses, but some specific hairstyles require specific shampoos and conditioners,” Kayla wrote on her personal page.
According to this customer, hair washing staff in Vietnam are quite comfortable so customers should not feel shy if they want to make any requests.
The female tourist said that after washing her hair, she often asked the staff to only blow-dry half of her hair and let the rest dry naturally. Partly because her hair is quite curly, and partly because ordinary hair salons in Vietnam do not have diffusers for this type of hair.
“If your hairstyle is not too popular and the staff is not used to doing it, it is completely normal to do some of the care yourself,” Kayla shares.
Despite some minor troubles, Kayla admits that the experience of getting a cheap hair wash in Vietnam is still an interesting activity, both relaxing and helping tourists learn and immerse themselves in the local culture.
Aside from the hair washing experience, Kayla admits to having fun memories and learning a lot during her time exploring across Vietnam.
She humorously revealed that she had learned the “skill” of sleeping on a motorbike seat like motorbike taxi drivers, or tried “going downhill” in Da Lat, or dancing lion dances on Tet holiday in Nha Trang… Each experience left a strong impression on her.
Kayla expressed that what attracts foreign tourists to Vietnam is not only the famous tourist attractions but also the simple, everyday experiences.
“I never thought I would love Vietnam so much, but this is a place I will definitely return to many times,” she said.
