Connect and build tours to Bang Ca, Son Duong

Not only is it a modern and dynamic city, Ha Long is also a land rich in revolutionary traditions, preserving many valuable historical and cultural relics. This is the "heritage gold mine" that is being exploited by interested units, oriented to connect and build into historical - cultural tourism products, aiming at revolutionary lands in the area.

Recently, the Quang Ninh Antiquities Association in collaboration with tourism businesses conducted a survey, research and proposed the development of a one-day tour connecting the center of Ha Long City to the mountainous communes of Son Duong and Bang Ca (Ha Long City). This is considered a continuation of the success of the tourism product "Old Memory Market" - a tour recreating the ancient Hon Gai built by the Association in 2024.

Mr. Le Minh Thu, Chief of Office of the Provincial Antiquities Association, shared: “We want to build a tourist itinerary like a slice of time, bringing visitors back to ancient Hon Gai, through to historical sites of Son Duong and Bang Ca. This will not only be a sightseeing tour but also an experiential journey, connecting the depth of history, natural landscapes and indigenous culture”.

Accordingly, it is expected that there will be two tours from Quang Ninh Museum to the heroic revolutionary land of Son Duong and the resistance relic of Bang Ca commune. The departure point is from the center of Ha Long city, following the "historic marching route" of National Highway 279 - connecting directly to Son Duong commune, a locality awarded the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces with important marks in the resistance war.

Here, visitors will explore the ancient Son Duong Pagoda (also known as Thanh Van Pagoda, Vuon Cau Village), a hundred-year-old pagoda in the middle of the pristine mountains and forests, where many ancient stone steles are kept recording its origins. Not only does it have spiritual value, this destination is also an ideal space for light trekking activities, exploring the tower garden on the mountain top, chatting with the abbot to learn more about local culture and history.

One of the important highlights of the tour is the Provincial Party Committee Cave relic (Ha Lung village) or also known as Ha Lung Cave, which marks the revolutionary activities during the resistance war against France and the US. With the tour designed towards experiencing vivid history, visitors can travel by traditional means such as boats, U-oát cars... to recreate the atmosphere of the old march, creating an attractive and different feature for the journey.

Not stopping at historical value, the tour also takes visitors to the unique agricultural tourism model in Son Duong and continues the journey to the scenic spot of Bang Ca commune. Visitors can explore the two largest guava farms in the area, experience cycling around the garden, pick guava by themselves, enjoy fresh agricultural products and immerse themselves in the fresh ecological space. In particular, at Dong Doong Cooperative - where community tourism is being developed in association with agriculture, visitors can also rest, enjoy local cuisine and exchange cultural activities with local ethnic people.

According to preliminary assessments, the current transport infrastructure and services in these two localities have met the requirements to welcome groups of 50-100 people. However, there are still some difficulties such as the landscape being affected by natural disasters (especially the recent Typhoon Yagi), the lack of on-site tour guides and the lack of people with in-depth knowledge of local history to fully convey the value of the relics.
