The Israeli military launched airstrikes against targets in Syria, in retaliation for a UAV attack on a school in the southern city of Eilat.
"The Syrian government bears full responsibility for any attacks carried out from its territory. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) will respond forcefully to any attempt to harm the territory of the State of Israel," the IDF announced on November 10.
The IDF said its forces launched airstrikes against targets in Syria in response to a drone attack on a school in Eilat, Israel's southernmost city.
However, the IDF did not specify the location of the UAV, who was behind the attack, and which target in Syria the Israeli air force attacked. Eilat is more than 400 km from Syria.

Israeli officials said on November 9 that a drone crashed into a school in Eilat, causing some minor damage but no casualties. Local council officials said about 40 students were in the basement of the school when the facility was attacked.
Southern Israel has recently seen a number of drone and missile attacks as the IDF steps up its campaign against Hamas in the Gaza Strip. Eilat is Israel’s main trade gateway through the Red Sea. The Israeli Navy has recently deployed additional warships to the area to bolster its defenses. The US Navy has also significantly increased its presence in the area.
The IDF has carried out hundreds of airstrikes over the past decade on Syrian territory, including positions of the Syrian army, Hezbollah units and Iranian-backed militias.
Israel rarely makes public information about its airstrikes on Syria, but has repeatedly stated that it does not allow Iranian forces to be present in its neighboring country.
