Speaking at a press conference on January 19, the head of the Indonesian Air Force Information Agency, General Agung Sasongkojati, said that the C-130J Super Hercules aircraft with registration number A-1344 is the fourth of five aircraft purchased by the government to strengthen its weapons system. According to Mr. Agung, Indonesia will receive the C-130J around January 22-24, depending on the weather conditions.
The plane had previously completed its first flight to Indonesia - from the factory in Marietta, Georgia to San Diego, California. On January 16, the plane began its flight at 9:00 a.m. (local time) in bad weather conditions. The trip was supposed to take only 6 hours and 12 minutes, but it ended up taking 7 hours and 12 minutes.
Indonesia has ordered five Super Hercules C-130J aircraft, of which three have been delivered to the Indonesian Air Force (TNI AU) in March, July and August 2023 respectively.
These five aircraft are assigned to the 31st Air Force Squadron at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base (Jakarta) to perform air transport support missions in wartime situations (OMP) and non-wartime operations (OMSP).
