Franz Beckenbauer lifts the World Cup trophy in 1974

Franz Beckenbauer is known as the "Emperor of Football". He won the World Cup as a player and coach, in 1974 and 1990 respectively. He was also runner-up in the World Cup twice as a player in 1966 and 1970. He also won the EURO in 1972 and was runner-up in 1976.

In his club career, Franz Beckenbauer and Bayern Munich won the Bundesliga 5 times and the C1 Cup (current Champions League) 3 times.

In 2014, Franz Beckenbauer was banned from football for 90 days for refusing to cooperate with a corruption investigation into the allocation of the 2018 and 2022 World Cup host countries to Russia and Qatar. It was not until 2021 when the investigation was concluded that Franz Beckenbauer was not punished, but withdrew from all football activities.

The football world will miss him immensely!
