Franz Beckenbauer is known as the "Emperor of Football". He won the World Cup as a player and coach, in 1974 and 1990 respectively. He was also runner-up in the World Cup twice as a player in 1966 and 1970. He also won the EURO in 1972 and was runner-up in 1976.
In his club career, Franz Beckenbauer and Bayern Munich won the Bundesliga 5 times and the C1 Cup (current Champions League) 3 times.
After his career with the German national team ended after the 1990 World Cup, Franz Beckenbauer also led the clubs Marseille (France) and Bayern Munich for 2 terms before ending his coaching career after the 1996 season.
In 2014, Franz Beckenbauer was banned from football for 90 days for refusing to cooperate with a corruption investigation into the allocation of the 2018 and 2022 World Cup host countries to Russia and Qatar.
