On January 9, Hue City Department of Tourism in coordination with Chan May Port Joint Stock Company and Saigontourist Travel Service Company Limited organized a program to welcome the first cruise ship and tourists to Hue city by sea in 2025.

Accordingly, the cruise ship Anthem Of The Seas (Royal Caribbean, Bahamas) carrying 4,455 tourists from the UK, Australia, the US... docked at Chan May port on the same morning. Nearly 2,000 tourists have purchased tours, will leave the port and visit tourist attractions and enjoy cuisine in Hue, Da Nang, and Quang Nam in 1 day. In Hue alone, there will be more than 500 tourists visiting famous tourist attractions such as the Imperial City, Tu Duc Tomb, Thien Mu Pagoda...
As soon as the ship arrived at Chan May port, leaders of the City People's Committee, Department of Tourism, Tourism Association, Phu Loc District People's Committee, Chan May Port Joint Stock Company and related units warmly welcomed, presented flowers and gifts and sent New Year greetings to the first tourists to Hue city by sea in 2025.

According to the Hue City Department of Tourism, this is one of the activities to celebrate the New Year and launch a series of tourism events and activities of the city in 2025, while creating an impression for tourists of an attractive, safe, friendly and hospitable destination; continue to strengthen communication to promote Hue tourism destinations, products and services to attract tourists, especially cruise tourists.
It is known that in 2024, Hue tourism industry welcomed 40 cruise ships to Chan May port with more than 90,000 passengers and crew members. Up to now, there have been 49 cruise ships with 99,998 passengers and 39,212 crew members registered to dock at Chan May port in 2025.

In 2025, Hue city will become a city directly under the Central Government and many major events will be held such as: National Tourism Year, the 50th anniversary of the liberation of Thua Thien Hue (now Hue city)... there will be many advantages to develop the tourism economy as well as great opportunities to promote the image of Hue tourism.
In particular, this locality has identified focused solutions, increased investment attraction for tourism development with focus and key points, and continued to attract international tourists, especially cruise tourists.
In 2024, Hue welcomed nearly 3.9 million visitors, an increase of 21.8% compared to 2023; including nearly 1.45 million international visitors, an increase of 16.6% compared to 2023. The main tourist markets come from the following markets: ASEAN, Northeast Asia, Western Europe, North America, Australia. Tourism revenue is estimated at VND 7,900 billion, an increase of 19.6% compared to 2023.
