The 2023 World Wushu Championships will start from November 17 to November 20. On the second day of the tournament, Phuong Nhi represented the Vietnamese wushu team in the taolu nam con event. With a great performance, the Vietnamese female martial artist convinced the judges. She received the highest score and won the first gold medal for the Vietnamese delegation. Second place went to He Jianxin - Hong Kong and third place went to Tan Cheong Ming - Malaysia.
Phuong Nhi competes convincingly at the world championship
Previously, Phuong Nhi won a silver medal in the taolu nam dao event after losing points to a Chinese athlete. By winning 1 gold medal and 1 silver medal, Phuong Nhi helped Vietnamese wushu temporarily rank 6th in the medal rankings of the 2023 World Championship.
This year's tournament brings together more than 500 athletes from 72 countries and territories. The men's and women's taolu events each have 11 sets of medals. Meanwhile, the combat events compete in weight classes from 48 to 75 kg, for both men and women. The Vietnamese wushu team participates in the world's largest tournament with 13 athletes including Duong Thuy Vi, Nguyen Thi Lan, Phuong Nga, Kieu Trang, Phuong Giang, Thu Thuy, Phuong Nhi, Manh Cuong, Duy Hai, Huy Hoang, Do Dat, Van Tam, Van Huu.

At the 2019 World Wushu Championship in China, the Vietnamese team won 1 gold medal, 4 silver medals and 4 bronze medals.
