Dong Thanh Agricultural Cooperative won the 2024 Cooperative Star Award

Last night, April 11, in Hanoi, the Vietnam Cooperative Alliance held a ceremony to honor outstanding cooperatives and present the Cooperative Star Award "CoopStar Awards" in 2024. At this ceremony, Quang Tri province had Dong Thanh Agricultural Service Cooperative (Dong Ha City) honored as one of the 100 outstanding cooperatives nationwide to win the Cooperative Star Award in 2024.

Dong Thanh Agricultural Service Cooperative currently has 570 members. The cooperative's cultivated land area is 233 hectares (rice production 178 hectares, vegetables 55 hectares, aquaculture 13.5 hectares, forestry 134 hectares).

Currently, the cooperative provides 11 production services (irrigation, plant protection, supply of fertilizers, seedlings, internal credit, construction of small-scale irrigation, afforestation, agricultural extension, harvesting, land preparation). Revenue in 2023 is over 2.85 billion VND, profit is nearly 588 million VND.

This is a cooperative that has achieved many important results in agricultural production, initially forming a production area suitable for growing conditions for each type of seedlings, creating a commodity production area to meet market demand. Thereby solving employment, creating conditions to promote household economic development, building and developing welfare infrastructure works, contributing to hunger eradication and poverty reduction in the locality.

It is known that, according to the structure of the fields, among the 100 typical cooperatives that won the Cooperative Star Award this time, there are 60 agricultural cooperatives, 28 non-agricultural cooperatives and 12 people's credit funds. The award is organized to honor cooperative business models with humane nature, for the progress of society.

At the same time, honoring the will of self-reliance, self-strengthening, hard work, creativity, and efforts to overcome difficulties of the cooperative community for the development of the collective economy. The honoring ceremony helps to strongly spread the typical cooperative model, arousing the aspirations of cooperatives in the development journey of the homeland and country in the integration period.
