On the afternoon of December 17, the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Bac Lieu province held a meeting with representatives of priests, pastors, and members of the Vietnam Catholic Solidarity Committee of the province on the occasion of Christmas 2024.
Attending the meeting were Mr. Huynh Quoc Viet, Standing Deputy Secretary of Bac Lieu Provincial Party Committee; Mr. Pham Van Thieu - Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Mr. Tran Van Ut, Chairman of the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, representatives of the Provincial Vietnam Catholic Solidarity Committee and the Vietnam Evangelical Church of Bac Lieu province.
At the meeting, representatives of the Catholic Solidarity Committee and the Evangelical Church of Bac Lieu province shared about activities during the year, as well as preparations for Christmas.
Over the past year, priests, pastors and members of the Vietnam Catholic Solidarity Committee of the province have always accompanied the nation, promoted the tradition of living a "good life, good religion", mobilized, gathered and united Catholic and Protestant compatriots to implement the Party's policies and the State's laws.
Along with that, the priests and pastors stood side by side with the people in the province to carry out well the campaigns and patriotic emulation movements launched by the government, the Fatherland Front, and organizations; promote economic, cultural and social development; actively participate in the movement "The whole country joins hands to build new rural areas"; participate in charity, humanitarian activities, repay gratitude, contribute to the fund "For the poor and social security", take care of the poor, the lonely, orphans, and disabled children, build solidarity houses, provide relief to people affected by natural disasters, storms and floods, open many charity classes for children who do not have the conditions to go to school, award many scholarships to poor students who overcome difficulties...
Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Pham Van Thieu, Chairman of the People's Committee of Bac Lieu province, briefly reported on the province's development in 2024. At the same time, he acknowledged and praised the valuable contributions of the Catholic Solidarity Committee and the Evangelical Church of Bac Lieu province, as well as the priests, pastors, and members who have stood shoulder to shoulder with the people of the province to effectively carry out patriotic emulation movements launched by the government, the Fatherland Front, and organizations.
"These meaningful and practical actions have demonstrated the spirit of 'charity', patriotism and the tradition of solidarity and solidarity with the nation of religious compatriots; affirming that Catholic and Protestant compatriots always attach religion to life, 'live the gospel in the heart of the nation', contributing to the successful implementation of the province's socio-economic goals, targets and tasks in the past year", Mr. Pham Van Thieu, Chairman of the People's Committee of Bac Lieu province emphasized.
Mr. Pham Van Thieu, Chairman of Bac Lieu Provincial People's Committee, hopes that priests and pastors will continue to pay attention to and encourage Catholic and Protestant followers to promote the achieved results, better implement the motto of living "good life, good religion"; inherit the good traditions of the Church, the Congregation associated with the tradition of solidarity, patriotism, and accompanying the nation.
On this occasion, the leaders of the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province also sent gifts to the priests and pastors, and sent wishes to the Catholic and Protestant people of the province to celebrate Christmas 2024 and a peaceful, happy New Year 2025, filled with God's grace.
