Hong Dao, 62, lives optimistically, reveals her health after illness

Hong Dao participated in the Linh Mieu project as Me Bich - the most powerful woman in the Duong Phuc family. This is the artist's second work in 2024, after the movie Mai Chieu on Tet Nguyen Dan.

In the film, her character Me Bich has complex psychological developments, with many emotional scenes. Hong Dao spent time studying the script, especially learning to speak in a Hue accent to suit the role.

“This is a horror film, the most important thing is to make the audience believe in the story when it is shown. I try to bring my real-life psychology into the film,” the artist shared.

Hong Dao accepted the offer because she liked the script's cultural influences. The film crew consisted of young people, from the director to actors such as Miss Thuy Tien, Samuel An, Thien An... Their enthusiasm and eagerness to learn greatly inspired Hong Dao.

The artist is willing to teach her juniors and actively creates a fun atmosphere on set. She often jokes with everyone: "How the young people play, Hong Dao plays the same way."

Hong Dao made her mark through her supporting role in the movie "Mai" earlier this year.

Having played Mai in Tran Thanh's film - a project that holds the record of 520 billion VND in revenue in Vietnamese cinema, Hong Dao often receives many questions about whether she has difficulty with the shadow of the previous project. However, the artist always keeps a relaxed attitude, not creating pressure to "surpass herself".

"If you were a young actor, you would be worried, but I have been in the profession for over 40 years, so I have a different mindset. My name is still there, as long as I do well in each project, that's fine. I don't expect myself to shine or need a higher position," Hong Dao shared.

For her, the happiness of an artist at this stage is to have a good role and be accepted by the audience. She always reminds herself to try her best to respond to the love and admiration of the public.

Hong Dao keeps an optimistic spirit, enjoying life after many events.

Last year, Hong Dao faced a serious health problem. She underwent a 6-hour surgery in the US and had to stop her artistic activities for a while.

After the incident, Hong Dao said that her health is now stable, her spirit is strong enough to freely do her favorite job. Recently, she often travels between Vietnam and the US for work, visiting relatives, and traveling .

Despite being busy, Hong Dao maintains a scientific lifestyle, eats carefully, and sleeps on time. The artist also maintains the habit of exercising regularly 1-2 hours a day, combined with an optimistic spirit, happily enjoying her old age.

"My current life is stable. At work, I put in 100% of my responsibility to complete it. After finishing, I spend time having fun, relaxing with friends, then returning to the US to reunite with my family," Hong Dao said.

Hong Dao is happy that her two daughters are now grown up and have stable jobs. They created a chat group on Facebook, regularly sending photos, sharing joys of life and chatting with each other every day. The female artist said she is trying to finish her work in time to return to the US to celebrate Christmas and Tet with her family.

Over 60 years old, Hong Dao is praised for her youthfulness, freshness, and elegant, impressive fashion style.

Hong Dao was born in 1961, was a prominent actress of the Ho Chi Minh City drama stage in the 80s from a number of plays such as: I'm waiting for the director, The house without men, Golden chicken dream, Thunderstorm ...

In 1994, when her career was on the rise, Hong Dao moved to the US to settle down with her husband, artist Quang Minh. The couple's marriage ended in 2019, after 24 years of living together. In recent years, Hong Dao has frequently returned to the country to work, making her mark by participating in artistic activities.
