Present at the training session, Deputy Minister of National Defense Nguyen Tan Cuong emphasized that the training was both to prepare for the celebration and for other important events such as the 50th anniversary of national reunification and the 80th anniversary of the founding of the country.

Checking the joint training, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Tan Cuong assessed that the training time was not long (about a month) in the cold and rainy weather in the North, the army and militia forces promoted their sense of responsibility, overcame difficulties, and initially completed the assigned tasks.
At the May 7th ceremony, 18 105mm howitzers opened the parade with 21 rounds of artillery fire. This was followed by a display by 9 helicopters carrying the Party and national flags flying over the stage. The total number of participants in the parade was 12,000.
