More than 2,000 Hanoi residents receive free screening for lung and cardiovascular diseases

On November 16, in Hanoi, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Youth Union and the Central Committee of the Vietnam Young Physicians Association organized a summary of the Journey "Young physicians following Uncle Ho's teachings, volunteering for community health in 2024 - Young physicians for a healthy Vietnam" and the Careme program, screening for cardiovascular - kidney - metabolic diseases in 2024.

At the chronic disease screening and examination program, more than 2,000 people in the city, including meritorious people, policy families, people in difficult circumstances, and freelance workers, participated...

People are examined, have basic blood tests, chest X-rays, ultrasounds, electrocardiograms, screening for lung diseases, lung cancer, diabetes, cancer and cardiovascular diseases, kidney function tests if there are signs of disease and sent for CT scans when abnormalities in the lungs are detected.

In addition, people in the city also continue to be screened using AI on the examination platform of the Vietnam Young Physicians Association.

Dr. Ha Anh Duc, Vice President of the Vietnam Youth Union, President of the Vietnam Young Physicians Association, shared: The Careme program, screening for cardiovascular, kidney, metabolic diseases and digital transformation for lung health have become bright spots, contributing to raising public awareness of chronic diseases and disease prevention and treatment measures. From there, raising awareness of prevention and avoiding the harmful effects of risk factors.

In particular, the Careme program has reached out, consulted and screened 7,616 people in the community and 5 major hospitals across the country, helping to detect early nearly 20% of cases at risk of chronic kidney disease.

"This shows that applying advanced disease screening methods, combined with artificial intelligence (AI) technology for early detection and timely treatment will minimize health risks for people. This is a big step forward in the field of public health, when we bring modern technology to serve the community effectively," said Dr. Ha Anh Duc.

The journey "Young doctors following Uncle Ho's teachings, volunteering for community health in 2024 - Young doctors for a healthy Vietnam" is the biggest journey in the 8th term of the Vietnam Youth Union, with 4 core teams: volunteer examination team, digital healthcare transformation team, non-communicable disease screening and blood donation team, and voluntary organ donation team.

After 6 months, the Association's chapters nationwide have implemented 2,693 direct examination and online disease screening programs.

This year's journey attracted 21,217 young doctors to participate in medical examination and treatment, more than 1 million people were consulted and examined directly and online with a total support budget of more than 117 billion VND...
