Switch to online learning status

According to statistics from the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, on September 11, nearly 130 schools in the city did not organize in-person classes due to the severe impact of Typhoon Yagi. If the weather continues to be complicated and there is heavy rain, the number of schools that have to temporarily suspend in-person classes is expected to increase.

The Department of Education and Training of Ba Vi district informed that today, the whole district has 7 schools at preschool, primary and secondary levels that have stopped going to school; of which 2 schools have allowed students to stay home: Tien Phong Kindergarten, Minh Chau Kindergarten. 5 schools have allowed students to study online: Vat Lai Kindergarten, Tien Phong Primary School, Minh Chau Primary School, Vat Lai Secondary School, Minh Chau Secondary School. There are 2 schools that combine online and in-person: Vat Lai Primary School, Tien Phong Secondary School.

In Ba Dinh district, due to the impact of heavy rain, 3 schools in Phuc Xa ward located outside the Red River dike including Nghia Dung Primary School and Phuc Xa Secondary School switched to online teaching; and Kindergarten No. 8 temporarily stopped receiving children.

On September 11, Hoang Mai District had 3 schools that had students off, including May Primary and Secondary School; the reason was that a system of 27 large trees around the school had fallen, blocking the entrance to the school and affecting some classrooms. To ensure knowledge for students according to the school year's curriculum, the school organized online learning.

On September 11, at the primary level alone, 52 schools in 22 districts, towns and cities did not organize direct teaching; of which 35 schools organized online learning, 17 schools let students take time off and will make up for it later.

In addition, secondary and high schools affiliated with universities such as: High School for the Gifted in Social Sciences and Humanities (University of Social Sciences and Humanities), High School for Educational Sciences (University of Education), Nguyen Tat Thanh Secondary and High School (University of Education), Foreign Language Secondary (University of Foreign Languages) ... also switched to online learning status to ensure safety for students.

The Hanoi Department of Education and Training directed schools to proactively grasp the situation, review learning tools of each student and deploy online teaching plans when necessary.

In cases where students’ families are in difficulty and lack learning equipment, along with synthesizing and having on-site support plans, schools need to flexibly organize forms for students to maintain their studies. Along with that, schools actively review facilities every day, and only organize direct teaching when safety is ensured.

Many schools become evacuation points to avoid floods

The water level of the Red River has risen above the level 2 warning level and is expected to continue rising, forcing more than 800 households outside the Red River dike in 4 wards of Bac Tu Liem district (Thuong Cat, Lien Mac, Tay Tuu, Dong Ngac) to evacuate to safety.

We are always ready to join hands to share with our fellow countrymen during this difficult period, only hoping that people in flood-affected areas will proactively evacuate to ensure the safety of themselves and their families,” said Le Thi Thanh, Principal of Thuy Phuong Primary School.

Meanwhile, in Hoang Mai district, two primary schools, Thanh Tri Primary School and Thuy Linh Primary School, have been requisitioned as emergency evacuation sites due to storms and floods. Not only that, many other schools in the area said they are always ready to receive households affected by storms if assigned the task.
