According to Mr. Nguyen Luong Tam, Deputy Director of the Department of Preventive Medicine (Ministry of Health), after storms and floods, countless microorganisms, dust, garbage, waste, etc. flow into many places, causing environmental pollution. At the same time, people lack clean water for daily life and use unsafe food sources, increasing the risk of epidemics. "Therefore, there is a high risk of epidemics such as dengue fever, malaria, flu, dermatological diseases, pink eye, gastrointestinal diseases such as cholera, dysentery, typhoid, diarrhea, etc.", Mr. Tam said.

“With the possible outbreaks of diseases after storms and floods, the Ministry of Health has instructed localities and preventive medical forces to distribute essential medicines such as eye drops to prevent pink eye, diarrhea medicine, antiseptics, bandages, fever reducers, etc. Currently, the northern provinces have suffered very heavy damage, and budget resources are also limited, so it is necessary to have the cooperation of the community and businesses to distribute essential medicines to the people,” Mr. Do Xuan Tuyen, Deputy Minister of Health informed.
The Ministry of Health, together with the Vietnam Health Trade Union, local health management agencies, and businesses have coordinated to provide essential health care products to people in flood-affected areas.
In the past few days, racing against time, FPT Long Chau system has made efforts to mobilize 10 tons of essential medicine to send to localities to support people in protecting and responding to dangerous diseases that can be contracted after the rain and flood.
This unit proactively sent personnel to each locality to review the situation and coordinate with the Ministry of Health and local health departments to quickly mobilize 10 tons of medicine, worth 2.5 billion VND (including medicines for flu, diarrhea, skin diseases, chloramine B...) to transport quickly at night to people in key flood areas such as Lao Cai, Yen Bai, Ha Giang, Tuyen Quang... That contributed to timely response to the complicated outbreak of epidemics after the flood.
Previously, in each locality, the unit also urgently deployed first aid and distributed free medicine at pharmacies in 24 provinces and cities. At the same time, a series of "lightning-fast" volunteer activities continuously took place at FPT Long Chau Pharmacies in the Northern region to distribute charity gifts to people with gifts including essential medicines, drinking water, vitamins, etc.
Ms. Nguyen Do Quyen, CEO of FPT Long Chau shared: “After the storm and flood, the epidemic will continue to rage and leave many consequences. Therefore, in addition to this urgent activity, FPT Long Chau also joins forces with other units to continue to accompany and implement many care programs, accompany people to rebuild and stabilize their health after storms and floods. This is a long-term mission and we certainly cannot do it alone but need many organizations and departments to join in. No matter what form it takes, Long Chau will take advantage of its coverage in 63 provinces and cities to create an effective network.”
