In order to bring the highest quality performances to the Competition, the artists have been practicing enthusiastically for the Competition for many days.

Ms. Dao Thi Cam Lai, a member of the An Giang delegation, said that the delegation has been actively practicing and has been in Quang Ngai since July 31. Coming to the contest, the An Giang delegation will have 4 performances showing the unique culture of 4 ethnic groups: Kinh, Cham, Hoa, Khmer.

"We will perform and introduce the cultural beauty of the Cham Islam ethnic community with a traditional wedding ceremony held over 3 days," Ms. Lai shared.

Mr. Pham Van Thong from Thanh Hoa delegation said: "Thanh Hoa has 7 ethnic groups: Kinh, Muong, Thai, Mong, Tho, Dao and Kho Mu living together in solidarity, creating cultural diversity and richness. Coming to the contest, we hope to introduce and spread the unique values ​​of local culture to friends at home and abroad."

Mr. Pham Van Thong also shared his joy at participating in the contest. According to him, the contest is an opportunity for artists to better understand the folk performances of their own people as well as other ethnic groups, thereby increasing their love for heritage and responsibility in preserving, maintaining and promoting the value of folk performance heritage.

As the host, Quang Ngai delegation mobilized nearly 60 artisans and actors to participate in the competition. The delegation will perform the following contents: Carrying the sacred symbol at the opening ceremony; performing traditional rituals, which is an excerpt from the Hoang Sa soldier's feasting ceremony; and competition contents including the performance of traditional costumes of the Cor ethnic group. Along with that, performing folk songs and folk dances. As for the culinary competition, Quang Ngai will present the traditional meal of the Cor ethnic group...

Artisan Le Ho in Ly Son district, along with a number of artisans and 20 actors, have practiced performing an excerpt of the Hoang Sa Soldiers' Ceremony for the past several days. "I am very honored and proud to participate in making fishing boats, blowing conch shells, and reenacting the Hoang Sa Soldiers' Ceremony at this competition. We often go to the mainland to practice, hoping to bring the best performance to the competition, helping the people of the whole country in general and the artisans and friends participating in the competition in particular understand the culture of Quang Ngai, understand the Hoang Sa Soldiers' Ceremony", artisan Le Ho shared.

Although he has participated in many folk performance programs, for Mr. Dagout Brice Liem (Lam Dong Group), this visit to Quang Ngai still brings many emotions. He expressed: "Although I have participated in several folk performance programs, each program brings a wonderful emotion. There we meet friends, some familiar friends, some new friends. And more especially, I get to learn the performances of the groups brought to the folk performance competition.

This time, Lam Dong delegation participated with the main melody of gongs performed very specially by 6 artisans to express the joy and happiness when coming to the festival.

As the host of this Ethnic Cultural Folk Performance Competition, Quang Ngai is also proud to be a locality rich in cultural identity and many types of folk performances are preserved and developed.

Ms. Huynh Thi Suong, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Quang Ngai province, said: Quang Ngai is proud to be a locality with many types of folk performances that are preserved and developed. In the coastal and delta areas, there is the art of Bài Chòi (honored as a Representative Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity), other folk performing arts such as folk songs, lullabies, Bả trao, Hỏ Thai, folk opera... The mountainous areas of Quang Ngai province have folk performing arts such as hat ta lêu, ca choi... of the Hre people; hat xa ru, a giới, a Lạt... of the Cor people; hat ta lêu, ra nghe, de ô de... of the Ca dong people. With a diverse treasure trove of cultural and artistic traditions, imbued with identity, the ethnic groups of Quang Ngai province have contributed to enriching the traditional cultural identity of the community of 54 ethnic groups in Vietnam.

Ms. Huynh Thi Suong hopes that during their stay in Quang Ngai, the delegates, artists and actors will have beautiful memories in their homeland of An Mountain - Tra River.

"Folk performance is a part of cultural heritage. The performance culture has its own unique characteristics of each ethnic group and is being preserved and passed on, creating an advanced Vietnamese culture with strong national identity. Through the folk performance contest of ethnic cultures, the awareness of the ethnic community in practicing and preserving traditional rituals and cultures will be aroused. Thereby, promoting and introducing the image of culture and people of Quang Ngai to tourists inside and outside the province", Mr. Cao Van Chu emphasized.

Taking place until August 4, the Folk Cultural Performance Contest of Ethnic Groups aims to introduce and promote the value of intangible cultural heritage, customs, traditional festivals, folk songs, folk dances, costumes, and cuisine of ethnic groups nationwide; at the same time, affirm the belief of ethnic people in the leadership of the Party and State; arouse the aspiration to develop the country, and promote the strength of great national unity.

This is also an opportunity for artisans and artists to gather, exchange experiences, collect, discover, explore and create in artistic work, contributing to preserving and honoring the traditional cultural values ​​of ethnic communities./.
