On October 29, in Hanoi, Comrade Nguyen Xuan Thang, Politburo member, Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council, Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics and Comrade Fabien Roussel, National Secretary of the French Communist Party co-chaired the 4th Theoretical Workshop between the two Parties with the theme "Human security in the context of a changing world and practical response policies of Vietnam and France".

The theoretical workshop, held every three years since 2012, is one of many cooperative activities between the Communist Party of Vietnam and the French Communist Party, an opportunity for the two parties to share theoretical content and practical experience to improve the effectiveness of each party's activities.

The 4th workshop took place in the context of Vietnam and France upgrading their relationship to Comprehensive Strategic Partnership during the official visit to France and attendance at the 19th Francophone Summit by General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam To Lam last October. Cooperation between the two parties continued to develop well, contributing to further strengthening the relationship between the two countries and peoples of Vietnam and France.

The theme of the Conference on human security and ensuring human security is receiving increasing attention from the international community in the context of humanity having to respond to many intertwined traditional and non-traditional security challenges, affecting all aspects of social life.

In his opening speech, comrade Nguyen Xuan Thang affirmed that the theoretical workshop is an activity of important political and scientific significance for the two Parties to share theoretical achievements and practical experiences in implementing policies and strategies to ensure human security.

The Communist Party of Vietnam always attaches importance to promoting and upholding the human factor, placing people at the center of the development strategy, constantly supplementing and perfecting theoretical thinking on human security and implementing it in practice to ensure comprehensive human development and social sustainability, bringing about results that have been highly appreciated by the international community over the years.

National Secretary Fabien Roussel affirmed that the solidarity between the French Communist Party and the Communist Party of Vietnam is the result of a long history of close ties, founded by President Ho Chi Minh since he participated in founding the French Communist Party at the Tours Congress in 1920; agreed that the Theoretical Workshop mechanism is a condition for the two Parties to exchange views and solutions to the great challenges of the times.

As a fulcrum for the unity and solidarity of the left wing and progressive forces in France, the French Communist Party always supports all efforts and initiatives to develop and strengthen relations between Vietnam and France for the common interests of the two peoples.

The presentations of the two parties' delegates focused on analyzing the world and regional situation affecting human security, exchanging and clarifying the connotations of "human security" from the approaches of the two sides.

The two sides also shared their assessments and viewpoints from the perspective of theoretical research and practical experience in Vietnam and France; proposed a number of research and cooperation directions between the two Parties in the coming time to ensure human security in particular and contribute to promoting the Vietnam-France Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in general. The discussions were open and practical, and were highly appreciated by both sides.
