The award was presented within the framework of the “Sustainable Food Forum 2024” program. The event was organized by the Vietnam Food Development Network in collaboration with the Association for Food Transparency (AFT) and the Global Food Bank Network (GFN) on the occasion of the 44th anniversary of World Food Day on October 16, 2024 in Ho Chi Minh City, and this is also the second time the event has been held in Vietnam.
Faced with the rapid increase in the world population exceeding 8 billion people, but also the increasingly complex climate change, economic recession, and wars in many places have led to food insecurity. In Vietnam, after Typhoon Yagi, provinces and cities fell into recession, the increasing poverty rate has created strong pressure on the agricultural sector as well as the food processing industry. Therefore, to ensure the sustainable development of resources and focus on human health care, reducing carbon emissions worldwide is an urgent task today.
In 2024, the Sustainable Food Forum with the theme “From Food Hero to Net Zero” will use a new approach to analyze and specifically evaluate the current development trends of the global food system. At the same time, it will point out the opportunities and challenges from food production, distribution and consumption in each locality and region. The event is also a “bridge” to help businesses and organizations operating in the agricultural sector in Vietnam have the opportunity to exchange and cooperate with each other to join hands in building a safe and sustainable agricultural and food industry.
As a business operating in the field of agriculture and food industry, CP Vietnam prioritizes sustainable development in the chain of production, business and product distribution activities. Participating in the signing ceremony of cooperation between the Vietnam Food Bank Network and partners through the Green Agriculture and Food Development Project is a demonstration of CP Vietnam's commitment to the mission of protecting the environment, joining hands to reduce plastic waste, not wasting food and aiming for the goal of "Net Zero" emissions in Vietnam.
The Sustainable Food Forum is held annually to promote development and environmental protection in the agriculture and food industry. The event brings together experts, businesses, farmers and non-governmental organizations, creating a space for exchanging ideas, sharing experiences and proposing sustainable solutions. At the forum, issues such as resource management, organic farming practices and food waste reduction were discussed enthusiastically. In addition, sustainable product displays and seminars also help raise public awareness of the importance of sustainable food in daily life. Through the booth displaying food products produced at the CP Food Cu Chi Factory, the CP product brand was introduced and brought closer to consumers. From the closed 3F Plus production process, using sustainable and environmentally friendly packaging, CP Vietnam's food products have received much love from visitors to the program.
