Special Working Group Talks between Quang Tri and Savannakhet Provinces

On October 8 and 9, at the Military Command of Quang Tri province, the Special Working Group of Quang Tri and Savannakhet provinces (Laos) held an annual meeting to deploy a plan to survey, search for, and collect martyrs' remains in Laos during the 2024-2025 dry season.

At the meeting, the two sides assessed the situation and results of the search and collection of martyrs' remains in the 2023-2024 dry season.

Accordingly, in the 2023-2024 dry season, with the attention, direction and facilitation of the Special Working Group of Savannakhet province, and the close coordination and support of the Party Committee, authorities, armed forces and people of Lao ethnic groups, Team 584 (Quang Tri Provincial Military Command) surveyed, searched and collected the remains of 12 martyrs of volunteer soldiers and Vietnamese experts who died in Savannakhet province. During the year, the Quang Tri Provincial Military Command coordinated with the Savannakhet Provincial Military Command to organize the inauguration ceremony of the Martyrs' Church and Barracks of Team 584 (phase 1) in Ban Tho, Pha Lan Xay district, ensuring thoughtfulness and safety in all aspects.

Also at the talks, the two sides discussed, agreed on policies and signed a memorandum of agreement to continue directing and organizing the implementation of the task of surveying, searching and collecting martyrs' remains in the dry season of 2024 - 2025, with some key contents: Strengthening coordination and better directing the task of searching and collecting martyrs' remains according to the policies and agreements of the two Governments to ensure practicality, efficiency and safety.

Strengthen solidarity and close ties, help Team 584 provide information and guidance during the search and collection process; manage the area well, actively review the current status of martyrs' graves, and strive to complete the collection task according to plan.

It is expected that in mid-October 2024, Team 584 will set out to carry out the mission of searching for and collecting martyrs' remains in Laos, focusing on the following districts: At Sa Phon, Pha Lan Xay, At Sa Phang Thong, Se Pon, Nong, Phin...

On this occasion, the Provincial Military Command awarded certificates of merit from the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee and certificates of merit from the Provincial Military Command to collectives and individuals of the Savannakhet Provincial Military Command for their many achievements in carrying out the task of searching for and collecting martyrs' remains in the dry season of 2023 - 2024.
