The Vietnam Veterans Association maintains its role as the Party's political core force.

(CPV) - Standing member of the Secretariat Truong Thi Mai assessed that the Vietnam Veterans Association is continuing to maintain its role and is worthy of being the Party's political core force.

Comrade Truong Thi Mai, Politburo member, Permanent member of the Secretariat, Head of the Central Organization Commission spoke at the meeting.

On March 27, in Hanoi, Politburo member, Standing member of the Secretariat, Head of the Central Organization Committee Truong Thi Mai had a working session with the Party Delegation, Standing Committee of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Veterans Association. Also attending were Secretary of the Central Party Committee, Head of the Central Mass Mobilization Committee Bui Thi Minh Hoai.

The working session aimed to summarize the results of the implementation of the Resolution of the 7th Congress of the Vietnam Veterans Association, term 2022 - 2027; summarize 20 years of implementing Resolution No. 09-NQ/TW of the 9th Politburo on strengthening the Party's leadership over the work of Vietnam Veterans in the new revolutionary period.

Reporting at the meeting, Senior Lieutenant General Be Xuan Truong, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the Vietnam Veterans Association, said that immediately after the 7th National Congress of the Vietnam Veterans Association for the 2022-2027 term, the Party Committee directed all levels of the Association to widely disseminate the success of the Congress. At the same time, the Congress Resolution was thoroughly disseminated and implemented, action programs and working regulations were developed, creating positive changes at all levels of the Association.

At the same time, the Party Committee has led and directed the Veterans Association at all levels to synchronously perform the tasks of participating in building and protecting the Party, the government, the socialist regime and the people; doing a good job of supervision, social criticism, giving opinions on Party building and government building; implementing well the movement of veterans helping each other reduce poverty and improve living standards. In particular, mobilizing resources to eliminate dilapidated and temporary houses for members. Out of more than 7,400 houses, in 2022, the Association at all levels eliminated more than 4,100 houses.

Along with that, the Party Delegation has led and directed the Vietnam Association of Veterans' Enterprises and Entrepreneurs to organize the 3rd Congress; coordinated well in the search and collection of martyrs' remains; coordinated in organizing movements to show gratitude to comrades, programs, and campaigns to repay gratitude; production and business movements, hunger eradication, poverty reduction, job creation, and income increase for hundreds of thousands of members and children of veterans. In 2023, the Association of Veterans' Entrepreneurs supported the construction of 300 houses, worth more than 200 billion VND.

The Party Central Committee has coordinated with the Youth Union to sign a coordination program for the 2023-2028 period to carry out the task of fostering revolutionary ideals, national pride, and patriotism for the young generation, continuing to promote the traditions of their ancestors, and encouraging young people to join the military...

According to the report of the Vietnam Veterans Association, after more than 20 years of implementing Resolution No. 09-NQ/TW, the Resolution has truly come into life, promoting great and practical effects, creating a clear change in awareness and responsibility of Party committees at all levels, authorities, ministries, branches, the Fatherland Front and socio-political organizations.

The Veterans Association has continuously developed comprehensively in both organization and membership, operating effectively, especially in performing the task of participating in building and protecting the Party and the government, contributing to maintaining political stability at the grassroots level; uniting to help each other develop the economy, eliminate hunger and reduce poverty among veterans; actively participating in socio-economic development programs, strengthening national defense and security in the locality; fighting and refuting wrong and hostile viewpoints, protecting the Party's viewpoints and guidelines, and the State's policies and laws; fighting against corruption and negativity; preventing and combating crimes and social evils; participating in educating the younger generation about revolutionary traditions; mobilizing, gathering, and promoting the role of veterans at the grassroots level; effectively carrying out people's foreign affairs.

The vast majority of veterans have maintained and promoted the qualities of “Uncle Ho’s soldiers” in the new conditions. Many veterans have been elected to Party committees and People’s Councils at all levels, and participated in the government and grassroots organizations. Veterans of agencies, administrative units, public service units, and enterprises have played an exemplary and active role in performing their tasks and building strong agencies and units. The Veterans Association continues to affirm itself as the core force of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, a reliable support for Party committees, authorities, and people.

At the conference, the Party Delegation and the Standing Committee of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Veterans Association made recommendations and proposals on a number of issues related to the activities of Veterans Clubs; coordination and management of the activities of the Association of Agent Orange Victims, the Association of Martyrs' Relatives, the Association of Quang Tri Ancient Citadel Soldiers, the Truong Son Soldiers Association, along with the traditional liaison committees of units, military regions, army corps, military services, arms, divisions, etc.

Speaking at the conference, Standing member of the Secretariat Truong Thi Mai acknowledged and highly appreciated the Veterans Association for achieving good results in implementing Resolution No. 09 of the Politburo and the Resolution of the Congress of the Vietnam Veterans Association for the 2022-2027 term.

The Standing Secretariat emphasized that the Vietnam Veterans Association is an organization with the responsibility to actively participate in patriotic emulation movements and major campaigns such as: building new rural areas, sustainable poverty reduction, civilized urban areas... Especially in the activities of monitoring, social criticism, building the Party, government, and political system, the Veterans Association is an organization with courage, capacity, and experience in dealing with this issue, besides contributing to the whole country in solving outstanding and pressing issues in society. The Veterans Association also contributes to reflecting the legitimate and legal thoughts and aspirations not only of veterans but also of the people, so that the Party and local authorities can promptly study and resolve them. In addition, the Association has carried out well the movement of veterans helping and supporting each other, especially for veterans who are still facing difficulties in life... The Veterans Association is also an important force in educating and fostering revolutionary ideals, pride, and patriotism of the young generation.

The Standing Secretariat assessed that the Vietnam Veterans Association is continuing to maintain its worthy role as the Party's political core force in all fields.

In the coming time, Standing member of the Secretariat Truong Thi Mai suggested that all levels of the Vietnam Veterans Association continue to promote the implementation of the Resolution of the 7th Congress of the Association, focusing on the lessons learned in the Congress documents on the leadership of the Party; the Association's activities must be linked to the aspirations and legitimate interests of veterans; on the building and organization of the Association; on coordination work and continuing to innovate the Association's methods of operation.

Comrade Truong Thi Mai suggested that we continue to proactively grasp the situation and encourage veterans to participate in the Party's work. Regarding the recommendations at the meeting, she said that she will continue to survey and supplement the Report of Resolution 09 to submit to the Politburo and the Secretariat in the near future./.
