80 years old never had a birthday party
Placing the cake in the middle of the table, the "white-haired friends" began to sing happy birthday to an old lady sitting in the middle. After finishing singing, the main character of the party smiled brightly, walked towards the cake and expressed her thanks to her friends.

The party was recorded by a member of the group on a phone and posted on social media. The clip quickly received much attention and admiration from the online community.
The owner of the clip, Ms. Ngo Thi Luong (53 years old, living in Thu Duc City) said that it was the birthday party of Ms. Hoa, a "friend" who is 79 years old. The people attending the party were members of a group of friends in their 80s, living in the same apartment building.
Knowing that Ms. Hoa had never had a birthday party before, the group secretly planned a surprise for her. It was known that Ms. Luong was the one who ordered the cake and brought it to a coffee shop near the apartment building where the group of friends lived.

When Ms. Hoa arrived at the coffee shop, the group suddenly brought a cake and sang happy birthday to their friend. In the clip, Ms. Hoa was called "director" Ms. Hoa by her friends. She got this nickname because she has a habit of never missing an appointment and always being on time.
"I thank you for celebrating my birthday," Ms. Hoa said wittily.
Not only Ms. Hoa, many members of the group also confided that they have never celebrated a birthday in their entire life, or if they have, they are only taken out to eat by their children and grandchildren, and rarely have the opportunity to be with friends.
"Last year, on the occasion of March 8, the elderly were not taken anywhere by their children and grandchildren, so I invited them to come home and cook together. That moment was so much fun, everyone was laughing and talking, gathering together because it was the first time we celebrated International Women's Day.
At that time, I asked about each person's birthday and learned that their children and grandchildren had never celebrated their birthdays. So, I decided to secretly celebrate Hoa's birthday," Ms. Luong shared.
Do not speak ill of children
Ms. Luong said her group was founded about 3 years ago, with members ranging from 53 to 82 years old. Ms. Luong is the youngest member, "in charge" of taking photos and filming as souvenirs every time the group meets, so that members who cannot attend can watch for fun.
Occasionally, Mrs. Luong will also go to the market to buy food, drinks, and medicine for the elderly in the group.
Previously, the elderly women in the apartment building often met to exercise together. Seeing that they were alone at home all day, only going out when taking care of their children and grandchildren, Ms. Luong decided to form a "friends group" of 9 members to connect and create many beautiful memories.
Gradually, the number of members increased to 14 people.
"Many members who were previously in poor health and spirit, after joining the group, became extremely cheerful, able to eat and sleep. For example, there was a woman who had breast cancer. After the surgery, she just stayed at home because her children and grandchildren had all gone to work and school.
Since joining the group, she has participated in many activities, exercised and chatted more. Since then, her health has improved a lot," said Ms. Luong.

Twice a day, for an hour each time, at 7:30 and 17:00, the group will take some time to meet to chat, exercise or organize a birthday party for a group member (if any). In addition, they also occasionally organize outings and picnics in the city.
Whenever someone in the group gets sick, the members pool money together to help or buy gifts of encouragement. In the group, there are 2 elderly people with breast cancer, Ms. Luong is also in charge of regularly updating knowledge about cancer, to help the elderly eat scientifically .

Although the main purpose of this group is to have fun, there are rules that must be followed. Members must not speak ill of their children, each other, or discuss personal or family matters.
"Having a meeting like this, we feel happy, healthy and younger. All worries are temporarily put aside, everyone feels happy. We come from all over the country, not from the same hometown or blood relatives, but we get along very well, and by chance we became friends," Ms. Luong shared.
