Speaking at the closing ceremony and national award ceremony of the 52nd UPU International Letter Writing Competition (2023), Mr. Nguyen Huy Dung, Deputy Minister of Information and Communications, Head of the Organizing Committee of the competition emphasized: “Along with children around the world, Vietnamese children have demonstrated the spirit of international humanity and global responsibility. The topic of the competition is road traffic safety, requiring contestants to develop their imagination to transform into superheroes with extraordinary solutions. The letters selected for the final round and highly appreciated are those that are creative, have unique emotions, and make an impression on readers. The solutions that the children proposed are also very diverse, aiming to eliminate degraded roads, install signs and barriers, prevent traffic safety violators; invent safe means of transport for children, and encourage the use of public transport”.
The owner of the first prize winning letter, Dao Khuong Duy, shared: “I really love superheroes, so when I saw this topic, I chose the idea of transforming into a boy named S-24/7 writing a letter to his parents on the planet Love-365. The reason for choosing a superhero with such a name is because the letter S is the beginning of many beautiful words on Earth: Superhero, Sacrifice, Safety. That superhero can protect children and everyone 24/7. Superman can use his superpower to swap thoughts to replace very dangerous and wrong thoughts of people such as speeding, reckless driving, driving in the wrong direction, etc. with the right thought of “safety always comes first”.
Dao Khuong Duy's letter was translated into French by the Organizing Committee and sent to the Universal Postal Union (UPU) in Switzerland for the international competition.
