In addition to learning to cook simple family dishes, we also teach children how to take care of family meals, help each other, and share with each other in life.

In early July 2024, the cooking class of the 8/3 Employment Service Center - Hai Duong Women concluded its last lesson. In the joy of the members, the teachers at the Center also received many words of thanks from parents.

Ms. Nguyen Thanh Chung, Head of Administration Department of the Center, said: “In recent years, grasping the needs of parents, we and many units and organizations in Hai Duong province have organized summer classes suitable for children of many ages (from 7 to 17 years old), with many contents such as: music, painting, dancing, chess, table tennis, soccer, basketball, martial arts, cooking...

For cooking classes, there are about 20-24 students/class, the tuition fee is 1.2 million VND/student/class. Each class lasts for 8 sessions, students are instructed to cook from 16 to 18 simple dishes for family meals.

“We teach the children to practice cutting, trimming vegetables, slicing and marinating food before cooking. After completing the dish, they will enjoy the dish they just made with their friends,” Ms. Chung shared.

In fact, many parents who let their children participate in the Center’s cooking course expressed that they want their children to come to the center so that the teachers can equip them with basic knowledge about cooking. For example, in the first lesson, the children are instructed by the teachers on how to use a knife, trim vegetables and fruits, make rice rolls, chicken with mushroom sauce, etc.

During the cooking class, students have the opportunity to be creative in preparing simple family dishes and to present the dishes more beautifully. Before the end of the class, teachers will guide students on how to wash dishes, clean the kitchen and tools in the practice room.

This is the fourth year that the Hai Duong Women’s 8/3 Employment Service Center has organized cooking classes during the summer vacation for young people in the province. What is special is that the Center’s cooking classes not only attract girls but also boys. There is a family with 2 sons, and the parents send both brothers to cooking classes.

“Since the beginning of June, we have organized 3 cooking classes. It is expected that this summer, the Center will organize about 4-5 cooking classes. In addition to learning how to cook simple dishes for the family, the children are also trained in the skills of taking care of family meals, helping each other, and sharing with each other in life,” said Ms. Nguyen Thanh Chung, Head of the Center's Administration Department.

According to Ms. Chung, in addition to cooking classes, during this summer vacation, parents can also let their children participate in the "Military Semester" organized by the Hai Duong Provincial Youth Union or learn sports at the Hai Duong Sports Gymnasium.

“No matter what course you choose to take during the summer, it will be interesting. However, parents need to choose courses that are suitable for their children’s age and interests, helping them have a useful and meaningful summer,” Ms. Chung confided.
