According to the synthesis of the Department of Education and Training of Thai Nguyen province, in the 2024-2025 school year, the whole province has 686 educational institutions, including 245 kindergartens, 203 primary schools, 191 secondary schools, 36 high schools and centers, with a total of over 353 thousand students.
Storm No. 3 caused whirlwinds and floods that damaged and affected 93 schools. Many assets such as classrooms, auxiliary works, equipment, and teaching aids were damaged (such as: computers, projectors, TV screens, nearly 2,300 textbooks, over 2,500 other teaching equipment...). The total damage is estimated at over 23 billion VND.
The Department of Education and Training has directed schools and professional agencies to review and count the damage to report to the authorities, and arrange funds to repair the damage in order to meet the conditions for welcoming students back to school. The collective staff, teachers of schools and local forces on-site organized a general cleaning of schools and classrooms, took measures to prevent epidemics, and ensured safety conditions when students returned to school.
By September 13, when Typhoon Yagi no longer caused widespread rain and flooding, teaching and learning had been restored. Only 44 schools had to close due to flooding or damaged property (including 11 schools in Thai Nguyen City, 20 schools in Phu Binh District, 10 schools in Pho Yen City and 3 schools in Phu Luong District).
By September 16, all students in the province had returned to class, and schools had arranged timetables and appropriate teaching and learning plans. Some schools and educational facilities were deeply flooded, with heavy damage to desks, chairs, and equipment, and had temporarily arranged for students to study in two shifts.
