Ba Dinh District has identified promoting the development of OCOP products and craft villages as one of the key programs to enhance the value of tourism products. Currently, the district is focusing on developing a plan to develop OCOP products and craft villages and building a center to introduce and promote OCOP products and craft villages to contribute to perfecting the tourism ecosystem in the district.
Talking to reporters of Kinh te & Do thi newspaper, Chairman of Ba Dinh District People's Committee Ta Nam Chien said that Ba Dinh District has a long history associated with Thang Long - Hanoi, now still leaving the imprints of the 13 Villages area from the Ly Dynasty with a high density of relics; many attractive locations such as: Thang Long Imperial Citadel, President Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, Presidential Palace, Hanoi Flag Tower, One Pillar Pagoda and two four towns of the ancient Thang Long citadel: Quan Thanh Temple, Voi Phuc Temple; next to that is the French Quarter with valuable architectures...
“With that awareness, the District People's Committee is focusing on building and implementing a project to develop tourism products in the area with the desire to become a destination that fully converges diverse and rich elements, from accommodation, sightseeing, experience, to shopping and entertainment” - Mr. Ta Nam Chien shared.
According to the Chairman of the People's Committee of Ba Dinh District, with many potentials and strengths in culinary services and the depth of culture and history of the ancient Thang Long citadel, Ba Dinh District is focusing on building a Center to promote craft village products, OCOP products and spaces to introduce Vietnamese cuisine in Ngoc Island - Ngu Xa, connecting with famous adjacent tourist attractions such as Quan Thanh Temple, Tran Quoc Pagoda, Long Bien Bridge... and the Ngoc Khanh walking - service business area that is about to open, creating momentum for socio-economic development in the coming time.
Determining that tourism development must be sustainable, the interests of the State and the community go hand in hand with the economic benefits for the people, economic tourism development areas are selected on the basis of available economic factors that are promoted, creating conditions for tourism development along with environmental preservation, urban hygiene, and associated with the preservation and promotion of traditional cultural values.
By the first quarter of 2024, Ba Dinh district had 16 OCOP products with 3 stars or more, of which 7 handicraft products were classified as 4 stars, 3 traditional products (fried green rice flakes, green rice cakes, Hang Than Xu Xe cakes) and 6 other food products with 3 stars.
In addition to the products that have achieved OCOP, Ba Dinh district still has many potential products, especially in culinary such as: tea, bread, pho, traditional ethnic cakes... According to the survey, the number of potential products to develop into OCOP products of Ba Dinh district in the near future is expected to be dozens of products.
In addition to developing OCOP products, in recent years, Ba Dinh district has paid attention to directing the work of preserving and promoting cultural and historical values, especially the culture of the villages in Thap Tam Trai - the land west of the ancient Thang Long citadel, now belonging to Ba Dinh district. Along with Thap Tam Trai, the ancient Ba Dinh land is also the convergence of many sophisticated handicrafts serving the construction of Thang Long Imperial Citadel.
For Truc Bach, the ward has a long history and cultural tradition with the Ngu Xa bronze casting village, the silk weaving village and many potentials and advantages in culinary services. However, currently in the ward there are only 2 OCOP products of Ngu Xa Traditional Bronze Casting Company Limited (both 4 stars). Therefore, the ward still has a lot of potential to develop OCOP products and craft villages.
In addition, the ward has many products that are currently the strengths of branded businesses such as: Pho Cham, Pho cuon Huong Mai, Pho cuon Hung Ben, Pho cuon 31; frog hotpot of Phong O business...; a group of flower-scented teas (lotus, jasmine, orchid, grapefruit flower...) of Dao Ngoc Thang Long Company Limited.
In addition, the Ward People's Committee continues to mobilize organizations and individuals in the area to restore and develop the famous silk weaving and bronze casting professions in history. These are potential products that need to be exploited and developed into OCOP products to promote commercial value, promote local cultural history, increase revenue of business establishments and the local budget.
Truc Bach Ward has a convenient traffic system for socio-economic development, especially trade and tourism, with 17 streets, the ward with the second largest number of streets in Ba Dinh District. The ward is adjacent to many important traffic routes of Hanoi City such as Thanh Nien Street, Yen Phu Street, Quan Thanh Street.
The ward has a double-decker tourist bus route (City tour) running through, adjacent to 2 TN-Go public bicycle service stops, creating favorable conditions for people and especially tourists to access the Food Street as well as tourist attractions and services in the ward.
In recent years, the system of roads, alleys, and sidewalks in Truc Bach ward has been basically renovated and upgraded to ensure synchronization. The basic power and telecommunication cable systems have been buried underground. In particular, the ward has completed the renovation of 6 flower gardens and is preparing to invest in the renovation of 1 flower garden, ensuring that 100% of the flower gardens in the area are green, clean, and beautiful, meeting the needs of the people and creating an attractive landscape for the development of trade, services, and tourism.
After Ba Dinh district opened the Ngoc Dao - Ngu Xa Food Street, the number of tourists coming to the street has increased significantly compared to before, especially foreign tourists. Tourists coming here not only enjoy the food here but also want to experience related activities to have the opportunity to learn about the history of culinary culture, as well as the lives of local people.
Identifying those advantages and potentials, Ba Dinh district and Truc Bach ward have developed a plan to develop OCOP products and craft villages and built a center to introduce and promote OCOP products and craft villages in the Ngoc Island - Ngu Xa area.
Chairman of Truc Bach Ward People's Committee Nguyen Dan Huy said that because the ward no longer has land that meets the conditions for construction, a center will be organized to introduce and promote OCOP products and craft villages in the form of mobile wagons placed at suitable locations around Truc Bach Lake (in Truc Bach and Tran Vu streets).
With the advantage of beautiful landscapes, flower gardens, synchronous walking paths, especially the road along Truc Bach lake is where tourists from attractions such as Quan Thanh temple, Tran Quoc pagoda come to the Ngoc Dao Ngu Xa night food street, so visitors will easily access the mobile cars.
The mobile wagons will be a place to introduce and promote Vietnamese culinary culture, craft village products, OCOP products, and a place to provide tourism information of Ba Dinh district in particular and Hanoi city in general to domestic and foreign tourists.
Each carriage is built as a “culinary museum” - a space to introduce Vietnamese dishes, drinks and unique OCOP products such as tea, coffee, pho, bread... designed on 2 floors with a modern sound and lighting system.
The first floor of the tram cars is a space to display artifacts, models, paintings, photos, documents, etc. to help visitors learn about ingredients, recipes, tools, and methods of preparing culinary dishes, combined with introducing tourism information and promoting OCOP products, craft villages of Truc Bach ward, Ba Dinh district and other localities.
The second floor will be where visitors can experience the products in person. The design and operation of the carriages ensure environmental protection requirements, energy saving and efficiency, security and order, fire prevention and fighting, and food safety.
During the pilot period, the mobile wagon model attracted a large number of people, tourists from all over the world, especially international visitors to visit and enjoy. Young people in particular expressed their excitement for this new experience. Experiencing the subsidy-era culinary space at the mobile wagon on Truc Bach Lake, Nguyen Nhat Anh (student of the Academy of Journalism and Communication) shared: "I find this a very good and meaningful model, helping young people like me to understand more about Vietnamese culinary culture. I will introduce many of my friends to come here and experience it."
It is expected that from now until the end of 2024, the Center for introducing and promoting OCOP products and Dao Ngoc Ngu Xa craft villages will have 5 carriages placed around Truc Bach Lake, which will help tourists both walk and experience the natural landscape of Truc Bach Lake, explore local culture and history and shop for OCOP products and craft village products.
The center will also be linked with sales points, introducing OCOP products in Truc Bach ward and Ba Dinh district, forming a network to introduce craft village products, OCOP products, and tourism products of the district.
It can be seen that organizing the promotion and introduction of Vietnamese cuisine, OCOP products, and craft villages on a 2-storey train is a new and modern form that contributes to attracting domestic and international tourists to Truc Bach ward in particular and Ba Dinh district in general.
This is also a place to organize events related to promoting and promoting trade of tourism products, OCOP, and craft villages to attract the attention of domestic and international tourists, thereby introducing the images and products of provinces and cities across the country.
However, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Truc Bach Ward also said that the most important thing now is how to make tourism products attractive and meet the needs of tourists, making them want to stay longer to have new experiences, with unique features of Vietnamese cuisine, history and culture.
In the coming time, in addition to adding urban beautification projects, Ba Dinh district will strengthen tourism development solutions, associated with the Project on developing tourism products in Ba Dinh district.
In particular, guiding production and business establishments to build new OCOP products, striving to achieve 3 stars or more; mobilizing organizations and individuals to participate in investing in developing tourism products and centers to introduce and promote OCOP products and craft villages.
Coordinate with OCOP product promotion centers, businesses, and business establishments to introduce and consume craft village products and OCOP products from localities across the country in the district.
