On the afternoon of April 8, at Yangon International Airport, Yangon Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein respectfully saw off the Vietnamese rescue team returning home.
Welcoming the Vietnamese rescue force at Noi Bai airport were Senior Lieutenant General Vu Hai San, member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Minister of National Defense; Lieutenant General Nguyen Trong Binh, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army; Lieutenant General Le Van Tuyen, Deputy Minister of Public Security.
At the airport, two Vietnamese rescue teams received greetings, encouragement and beautiful bouquets of flowers.
As a result, the Vietnam People's Army rescue team discovered 32 locations with victims trapped under the rubble; directly organized searches at 20 locations, and brought out 21 victims' bodies.
In particular, the team coordinated with rescue forces from Myanmar and Türkiye to save the life of a 26-year-old man who had been trapped in the rubble for 5 days.
After more than a week of performing international duties in Myanmar, the Vietnamese rescue team returned home, concluding its meaningful humanitarian assistance journey in the serious earthquake disaster in this country.
On March 30, the Ministry of National Defense sent 80 officers and soldiers along with necessary medical equipment and supplies, 6 service dogs and tons of goods to support Myanmar in overcoming the consequences of the earthquake. After 10 days of working and successfully completing their mission, the soldiers returned home with joy and excitement.
Major General Phan Van Ty, Head of the working delegation, reported that the assigned tasks had been completed.
Senior Lieutenant General Vu Hai San, member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Minister of National Defense and Lieutenant General Le Van Tuyen, Deputy Minister of Public Security, and representatives of the units congratulated the Vietnamese rescue team on successfully completing their mission and returning home safely.
