Commenting on this match, the Hungarian Football Federation's homepage wrote: "The long flight (from Hungary to Ho Chi Minh City) and the 5-hour time difference made the players quite tired. But after a day and a half of rest, the Hungarian futsal team had a match with the home team. The two teams played a tight game. The Vietnamese players were fast and agile. Therefore, the Hungarian futsal team had to defend in a disciplined manner throughout the match to limit the home team from using their strengths."
Up to now, the Hungarian futsal team has participated in the world futsal championship once (in 1989 and finished in 5th place), and participated in the European championship 3 times (2005, 2010, 2016). The Hungarian futsal team is currently ranked 28th in the world, 11 places higher than Vietnam. Sharing about the upcoming 2 friendly matches, captain Pham Duc Hoa said: "I feel very excited to face 2 strong opponents from Europe, Hungary and Russia. This is a great opportunity for the Vietnamese futsal team to improve, as well as learn more from these opponents".
Vietnamese futsal players (red shirts) are praised for their speed and agility.
Two days after playing against Hungary, the Vietnamese futsal team will have their second friendly match against the Russian futsal team (September 19). "This is the third time we have faced the Russian team. The previous two times, we were defeated. However, with the most recent defeat at the 2021 World Cup, the Vietnamese futsal team has improved in terms of score and playing style. I hope that in this third match, the team will perform even better and will get positive results," Duc Hoa shared.
Previously, the Vietnamese futsal team had a useful training trip in South America, with friendly matches against strong opponents such as Paraguay and Argentina. Regarding the professional preparation of the Vietnamese futsal team at this time, head coach Diego Giustozzi said: "I am very satisfied with the experiences in South America. The Vietnamese futsal team needs to play official matches of such quality. If we play such matches 20-30 times a year, Vietnam will be a powerhouse in Asia. We just lack the experience and competition at the right level. Currently, I am testing the new system and elements. I am very satisfied with the change. Of course, the coaching staff still has a lot to do, but we are on the right track."
Head coach Diego Giustozzi
"As I said, the Vietnamese futsal team needs international level matches. The Hungarian futsal team and the Russian futsal team will bring that. Facing big difficulties will make the team better. I am sure that if the whole team believes in themselves more, we can beat our opponents. These things need to come from the players' own thinking. This is the last step we need to take to start achieving important results," said the coach who led the Argentine futsal team to the World Cup.
