Draw with Chelsea, Arsenal 9 points behind the top team

The highlight of round 11 of the Premier League is the match at Stamford Bridge between Chelsea and Arsenal. In dire need of a win to catch up with Liverpool, Arsenal took a risk and played aggressively after the opening whistle. In fact, coach Mikel Arteta and his team faced many difficulties against Chelsea's well-organized and crowded defense.

In the first half, there were no dangerous opportunities created by either side. Chelsea did not want to accept defeat at home, they did not rush to rise up but patiently waited for the opportunity to launch a counterattack. The Blues did well in defense but were ineffective in their efforts to approach the opponent's goal.

Arsenal had a hard time against Chelsea.

In the 32nd minute, Kai Havertz scored against Chelsea but the referee disallowed the goal after consulting VAR. Chelsea relied on Cole Palmer's individual efforts but the first 45 minutes were a time when the English midfielder failed to prove much.

In the second half, the game did not change much. Arsenal continued to control the game, the return of Martin Odegaard provided more attacking options for the Gunners. The pressure that the Gunners created finally brought results. In the 60th minute, receiving a delicate pass from Martin Odegaard, Martinelli fired a dangerous shot to open the score for Arsenal.

Not accepting defeat, Chelsea immediately rose up and attacked strongly. Just 10 minutes later, they got what they needed. Pedro Neto moved reasonably and shot from afar to equalize 1-1 for the home team. This was a situation where Jurren Timber and Gabriel did not play aggressively, leaving the opponent with too much space in front of the penalty area.

In the remaining minutes, Jackson had a shot on target against Arsenal but it was disallowed for offside. Meanwhile, Arteta's players had some threatening moves against Robert Sanchez but their efforts were not enough to score. The match ended in a draw. Thus, the gap between Arsenal and Liverpool was 9 points after only 11 rounds.
