Supporting people in mountainous areas to consume agricultural products, aiming at the goal of sustainable tourism development

On February 21, Mr. Nguyen Duc Quynh, Vice Chairman of Da Nang Tourism Association, Chairman of Da Nang Hotel Association said that recently at the People's Committee of Tr'hy commune, Tay Giang district (Quang Nam province), Da Nang Hotel Association, Bac My An Tourist Area Joint Stock Company, Da Nang Culinary Culture Association and Tr'hy Commune Farmers' Association signed a program to support the development and consumption of agricultural products.

Accordingly, the program will purchase agricultural products and crops of local people, ensuring output, aiming at the goal of sustainable tourism development, associated with local community building activities.

Mr. Tran Van Ta, Head of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Tay Giang District, said that Tr'hy commune has an abundant labor force, a temperate climate and a large cultivated area, however, local people still lack agricultural knowledge and techniques.

With the efforts of all parties, as well as the support of large food suppliers, there will be a clear improvement in agricultural production and post-harvest preservation of agricultural products, aiming to build a clean, stable agricultural source, comply with food safety regulations, and develop agriculture in Tr'hy Commune in particular and Tay Giang District in general in a sustainable manner.

Mr. Nguyen Duc Quynh said that green and sustainable tourism is a global trend. In Da Nang, with more than 1,300 hotels from 2 stars to 5 stars, we still have many potential aspects to develop in this direction.

One of them is to develop a stable, clean source of agricultural products locally to help hotels and restaurants shorten the time to import goods from other sources of raw materials and proactively create local cuisine suitable for serving international tourists.

"Cuisine must be associated with cultural stories. Using ingredients and spices from Tr'hy commune to promote local cuisine of Da Nang - Quang Nam to domestic and foreign tourists, not only enhances the culinary experience of hotels and restaurants but also contributes to building sustainable community values", Mr. Quynh affirmed.

Local leaders introduced Tr'hy commune and agricultural production areas to the units.

The Chairman of the Danang Hotel Association shared that the recently signed program is not only an output commitment for local agricultural products, but also creates a premise and foundation for sustainable agricultural tourism development such as: sharing agricultural knowledge, building an area to display agricultural products of Tr'hy commune (Tay Giang) to introduce to domestic and international tourists, supporting training in communication, marketing, and digital business knowledge for local labor force, ... as well as connecting with food suppliers and producers to develop agricultural production plans right in the locality.

According to Mr. Andre Pierre Gentzsch, General Director of Operations of Furama – Ariyana Danang International Complex, sustainable development has been one of the core development values ​​of the culinary and heritage resort Furama Resort Danang for many years.

"With the signing ceremony of this memorandum of understanding, Furama Resort Danang is proud to be a pioneer, contributing to building a stable supply of clean agricultural products right in the Da Nang - Quang Nam region. Through the talented hands of our professional kitchen team, the delicious dishes served to diners at Furama Resort Danang will carry a story and will be more meaningful", said Mr. Andre Pierre Gentzsch.

It is known that Tr'hy commune (Tay Giang district, Quang Nam province) is nearly 150km from the center of Da Nang city, near the border with Laos. The majority of local people are Co Tu ethnic people with 390 households, 1,500 people, the main source of income is from agricultural production, with crops and medicinal plants.
