These days, the Ankroet hydroelectric reservoir area (Lat commune, Lac Duong district, Lam Dong province) has been drained of water, leaving only a small stream flowing through the dam carrying many types of fish from the lake.
Ankroet Hydroelectric Power Plant was built in 1942 and completed in 1945 on Ankroet Hydroelectric Lake and is considered the oldest hydroelectric power plant in Vietnam.
The hydroelectric lake is dry, hundreds of people follow the shallow water flowing to the dam to catch fish. The main fish here are catfish, grass carp, silver carp, bighead carp...
The most crowded area is the stream area right at Ankroet dam with nearly a hundred people gathered on both sides.
A corner of the stream becomes bustling with the sound of people calling each other to catch fish or the sound of excitement when catching a big fish.
People brought a lot of equipment such as nets, rackets, baskets, cages and even electric shock.
The sunnier the noon, the more people come to fish, creating a bustling scene.
Men mainly use nets or electric shock to catch big fish while women use net cages to catch smaller fish.
A group of people rolled in the mud trying to hold back the big fish as it thrashed about violently.
But then regret because the fish escaped into the water
Another group threw a net and caught a fairly large catfish.
Another catfish weighing about 6-7 kg was caught in the net. Mr. Tam said that from morning to noon he caught about 6 similar large fish, not to mention other small fish.
Many people left the lake carrying fish with quite heavy bags.
Today, many people continue to flock to Ankroet Lake to fish or watch the bustling scene.
Another section of Ankroet hydroelectric lake (Lat commune, Lac Duong district, Lam Dong province) is crowded with people coming to catch products at the oldest hydroelectric lake in Vietnam.
