Coach Thach Bao Khanh says goodbye to Viettel The Cong Club
On the afternoon of December 29, Coach Thach Bao Khanh posted on his personal account a farewell message to Viettel The Cong Club: "Since I was a player, with the mission of being a player of The Cong Club to a player of Hanoi T&T Club, wherever I am, I always try to complete the assigned work.
Until I became a coach in the past 3 years, from the People's Public Security Team (CAND, now Hanoi Public Security Club - CAHN), to Viettel Club (now The Cong Viettel), I have always tried to complete the targets: First Division Champion, U.21 Champion (as a player and coach), double V-League Bronze Medal and National Cup Silver Medal.

In 2023, I played 31 matches: won 14, drew 11, lost 6 with a win rate of 45.1%, a goal difference of 39/25.
After more than 20 years of being involved with football, I still have the same passion and am waiting for the opportunity to continue contributing in a new environment. Hopefully, the new year will bring new prosperity. Thank you to the board of directors, coaching staff, staff and players who have accompanied me during the past time. Coach Thach Bao Khanh is a name that is typical of The Cong when he was a player. When he switched to coaching, he led the youth team and worked as an assistant at Viettel's first team. After helping CAND Club to be promoted to V-League, on December 15, 2022, Coach Thach Bao Khanh returned to Viettel Club to replace HGLV Bae Ji-won.
In V-League 2023, despite being under great pressure with almost the entire first phase having to play against the West when important strikers like Geovane were seriously injured, Viettel Club of coach Thach Bao Khanh played very persistently, before exploding in the second phase to compete for the championship until the last minute.
In the 2023 - 2024 V-League season, Viettel Club changed its name to The Cong Viettel. Viettel did not play really well when they said goodbye to strikers Geovane and Jefferson (who joined CAHN Club), while striker Essammeldin did not play effectively and new player Bruno Cunha did not perform well due to a broken arm.
After the 0-2 defeat to Hanoi FC in round 6, on December 18, coach Thach Bao Khanh stepped back and gave the head coach position to Mr. Thomas Dooley and took over his role as Technical Director. Up to now, Mr. Thomas Dooley has lost both matches, conceding 7 goals and scoring only 1 goal, causing The Cong Viettel FC to fall to the bottom group, only 3 points above the bottom team HAGL.
