Korean expert Park Chung-gun will not return to Vietnam to work despite the program scheduled for September 24.
SGGP has learned that shooting expert Park Chung-gun will not meet with the sports manager to work as planned. Previously, Mr. Park Chung-gun returned to Korea in early September for family matters. Responding to the Vietnamese press, Mr. Park Chung-gun expressed that he would work with the sports manager as scheduled on September 24 after the two sides had a connection.
In fact, Mr. Park Chung-gun will not do this and change his plan. Also, the program to continue working with Vietnam sports (if any) and the Vietnam shooting team of Coach Park Chung-gun at the present time will not proceed when the Korean expert has his decision. Expert Park Chung-gun has responded to the representative of the Department of Sports and Physical Training about this decision.
The labor contract between Mr. Park Chung-gun and Vietnamese sports in 2024 expired on August 31.
On September 12, because they could not meet directly with expert Park Chung-gun (who is currently in Korea), the sports industry sent an email to this coach. The content of the email clearly stated: "Over the past 10 years, Vietnamese shooting under your guidance has achieved proud achievements. Although we did not meet the expectations as planned at the recent Paris Olympics, there were some bright spots that were noted.
The Department of Sports and Physical Training thanks you for accompanying the Vietnamese shooting team. We always appreciate your contributions to shooting as well as your affection for Vietnam. In order to prepare for the goal of winning gold medals for ASIAD 2026 and Olympics 2028 according to the strategy, the Department of Sports and Physical Training needs time to review, evaluate and adjust the plans of key sports, so the cooperation and invitation for you to continue coaching the shooting team will be announced to you as soon as possible.
The Department of Sports and Physical Training hopes to have the opportunity to continue working with you in the future. Hopefully, you will be a bridge contributing to the development of sports relations between Vietnam and Korea. Once again, we would like to sincerely thank you and wish you and your entire family all the best!”
